| If you think that's good but you don't like the weather - check out Dallas. We moved to Dallas 18 months ago and haven't looked back once. Awesome quality of life, and the summer heat isn't nearly as bad as I expected. It's beautiful and green here, great roads, great economy & jobs. |
According to people in DC/NY/LA, anything that is not on the east or west coasts is flyover country. |
Schools are good and the area has a lot of large medical, tech and finance companies. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_Minnesota |
After looking at the horse shit in Arlington this is solid gold |
| Looks horrible to me -- I'll take my 4-bedroom colonial with neighbors and lots of beautiful old growth trees, and 1-car garage - oh well! |
|
I can imagine the smell that lulls you to sleep inside in this behemoth.... a couple hundred yards of treated cabinets and carpets. YUK.
I mean, it's just not for me. |
So you wouldn't live in a newly renovated home or do any repairs or renovations? Do you prefer the musty old smell of water damaged homes? |
behemoth? I live in a slightly larger new home in McLean (5600SF) but they only offered 2 car garages and costs way more. I would love a 3 or 4 car garage. |
| That community is about 25 miles from downtown Minneapolis, so I guess the DC equivalent would be something like Sterling/Potomac Falls. You'd still pay more than $580K for a new house that big, perhaps $1.2 or 1.3 million. But you also get a shorter commute and colder weather in MN. |
| You can get the same in Austin and not deal with the winters. |
+1 |
| I wouldn't mind a 4 car garage. My parents have a 3 car garage and it's great. Space for 2 cars and space for all the gardening stuff. |
basements? |
|
Right, but then when you lose your job and have to sell your house, or if you decide to move elsewhere, there's nobody to buy it because $580K is a lot of money almost anywhere but here. In other places, houses often sit on the market for many months, especially if they're considered to be at the top of the market.

Sounds great except for the fact that you live in TX. |
