"strange" pp here. That wasn't what you asked. You didn't ask what the customs were and if they were different. That would not have seemed as strange to me as your question. All the PPs talking about arm coverings as their example of dress codes varying among religions, what you are leaving out is that the variation is WITHIN religions, in Christianity and Judaism you can find groups that really care about bare arms and ones that don't, so your explanation does not hold water. The information OP gave is not enough to determine whether denominational differences like that would come into play. Not all Jews are the same.

it's hard to explain, and I clearly have no backup here so I'll stop after this. Your question made it sound like 1. you think all Jews are the same 2. you were uncomfortable interacting with Jews because they are different from you. I suspect that you know all this about other religions, that they don't all believe the same things, so why would you think Jews would?

What an obnoxious, unnecessary, rambling response.

You got all of that out of a simple question about a black pantsuit? I can't imagine going through life thinking the worst of everyone.

+1

+1. It is very considerate of you to ask.

This. I am a reform Jew. I was at a bat mitzvah recently at a reconstructionist synogogue and some non-Jewish men didn't cover their heads. A woman went up to them mid service and handed them head coverings. I thought that was extremely rude. They were being respectful of the service and chose not to wear one, it should have been left at that. I know in my experience, a non-Jew isnt held to the same expectations nor should they be.

You are seriously weird.

It really depends. If you post the name of the synagogue we'll be able to give better advice. Many Jews would be okay with a woman wearing pants but not all.

Wow you sound incredibly angry, bitter and lost. OP what you are planning to wear sounds perfect. Only would be slightly different if it's an orthodox temple, which it sounds like its not.

Holy shit. Do you always go around looking for arguments?

LOL. I'll bet a dollar she's neither a Christian nor Jew.

Probably not. Probably a lawyer instead.

You're clearly a psycho.

Wouldn't it make MORE sense to ask a question about attire SINCE "not all Jews are the same?" If I attended an Orthodox service, I'd be especially cautious about my choice of clothing.

And while OP didn't mention where the ceremony was held, she opened up the discussion so that people could guide her
