What age did you stop using a bucket car seat?

Anonymous
10 months or so. We only took it out of the car to occasionally clip it into stroller (even that was rare as we mostly used a ring sling or Ergo).

About that age. I could not lift it either. I waited till spring and got a new one

Never used one. We used a convertible seat from
Day 1.

I believe around 7 months.

Whenever they were sitting really well.

13 months, when DS outgrew it in length. I still carried him in it when he would fall asleep (the only reason we used the bucket as long as we did), and it was a bear.

I need to take it out because my DH picks her up. We leave the car seat at daycare. I could take her out of the bucket and walk her in and then come back to get the car seat later as someone recommended. I guess I just prefer to make one trip!

You're going to need two convertible seats eventually. Just put one in one car and keep the bucket in the other.

This is a really good point. Get a convertible seat for your car and leave the bucket seat in your husband's car. Once she is in a convertible seat, you will have to own two anyway.

Yes, just get one convertible now and get the other when she outgrows the bucket seat. There's nothing safer about a bucket seat--it's just more convenient with small babies. We stopped using it with our older child around 8 months, though we are at 7 with the younger one and will probably continue just for convenience. Kid #1 officially outgrew it at a year, and it looks like kid #2 will follow suit.

I stopped carrying that seat around at about 3 mos. I used it in the car until about 11 mos when she grew out of it. Just hold your kid or put him in a carrier if your hands are full of bags.

Six months w/ #1. She would cry on car rides in it.

3 months W/ #2. He didn't sleep in his seat and he liked to be worn which was easier for me. He was big and I am small like you. DH found it easy to carry and used it in his car until almost a year.

#3 is 5 months and still it in. Plan to keep using it awhile just because reconfiguring car seats in a small 3-across situation is a pita.

You can switch any time. Some people don't use a bucket at all. I personally don't care for them once baby can sit up.

Yep. And it's handy to buy just one so you know if you like it before buying for the other car.

I'm still using mine at 9 months, but my daughter is on the small side (17.5 pounds) and I am addicted to my snap and go, which is the most convenient thing ever for daycare drop off/pick up, quick shopping, etc.

DS outgrew the bucket by length at four months. Was getting too heavy anyway, but I was sad to have gotten so little use out of it.

My DD is 8 months and over 20 lbs and after lugging her into daycare this morning I'm ordering the convertible seats this week...such a heavy chunker!

My son hated the bucket seat. We switched him to a RF convertible around 3-4 months. My daughter we switched when she outgrew it, around 9 months.

About a year each, but I had tiny little babies. Even still I started leaving it in the car around 7-8 months.
