"Corrupt democrat" is becoming an oxymoron.

You sure put the 'moron' in oxymoron. Get thee to a dictionary!

I just read today's NYT story and the charges are much stronger and broader than I expected. I'm a Democrat and I think he should resign.

I'm glad. Menendez is no progressive. He's a shill for Bibi.

Christie can appoint a seat warmer and hopefully we get a good progressive to take the seat back long term.

This is Obama going after Bibi's allies. Just more antisemitic actions of the Obama administration. When will he stop attacking Israel and apologize to BIbi? WHEN!

I am a lawyer. I have become very skeptical of indictments of politicians. U.S. Attorneys LOVE to charge politicians with crimes as it is the ultimate "get." It is a feather in the cap of the head U.S. Attorney and all the Asst. U.S. Attorneys on the case. Many of these attorneys don't want to move into the private sector until they have this feather.

So many of these cases are trumped up. Look at the case of Alaska Senator Ted Stevens for example. Also, the recent indictment of the Texas Governor.

Don't you think that longtime politicians (who are usually also attorneys) run everything that is questionable by an attorney or team or attorneys? Yes they do. Most politicians are fairly savvy.

I make an exception for the nutty Rep. from Illinois - Aaron Schlock or whoever and maybe for the Gov. of Virginia

but overall, many of these political corruption cases are trumped up B.S.

I am pretty sure that the number of cases successfully prosecuted far exceeds the number that turned out to be trumped up. The Stevens case was incompetently prosecuted, but that seems to be the exception (with the rather inept handling of our very own Mayor Gray possibly being a second example).

Yeah, menendez looks like he's in trouble. We'll know shortly, it'll have a big effect on the senate.

The democrats have long been the party of corruption. Just look at Rod Blagojevich, former rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., former rep Chakah Fattah, the entire Kennedy family, or any other from the very long list of disgraced democratic politicians.

Sure - a few republicans have been exposed. But corrupt democrats vastly outnumber corrupt republicans.

I am a little surprised at how little coverage this story is getting. Sure - he is a Democrat, which gives him a little less scrutiny by the press than if he were Republican. But, a lot of the press is nearly silent about this trial.

You're one of those people that scream anti-semitism whenever the US doesn't blindly cater to Israel's needs. I think it's time to drastically cut aid to Israel.....guess that makes me an anti-semite as well.

If you read this thread, you will find that there are many more Republicans on it than Democrats, despite the title. Plus, you all will own Nixon forever, and soon you will own Trump forever.

Exactly. Hush, hush about all the Democrat criminals.
