| It's an OSHA violation. Something could fall on their toes. |
| What do you people do at the beach and pool? When I was a kid I went barefoot everywhere whenever I could, and lived to tell the tale. |
It might (or might not) be an OSHA violation if school children were employees, which they're not. OSHA does not have jurisdiction over elementary school students at elementary school. |
| I'm kind of shocked that any competent elementary school administration would support an idea like this. All it takes is for one accident, injury or disease to bring a lawsuit from parents. |
| Is this for the whole day? Even recess? What are the specifics? |
OP here, below is text from the letter. Nothing about lunch or bathrooms. • go without shoes for 24 hours, • wear their shoes to school and outside, but keep them off for the remainder of the school day or • not to participate at this time. |
so you don't have to participate. |
OP here again, I stated in the original post that my children would not be participating. I asked if this was a common activity, we had things like spirit day, crazy hat day, and pajama day in my old school (different state). |
|
I've never heard of such a thing. I'm sure the local Health Department would be interested in hearing that children would be shoeless for the day in a school building!
I'd never allow my kids, even my older ones, to participate. |
Pajama Day -- they can catch a death of a cold going to school in just pajamas. |
| What school? |
| Really odd--and kind of troubling. Do not participate. There are other, less phony, ways to support the cause. No competent lawyer would ever allow this to happen. |

I rather my kid walk outside with no shoes than inside a public school bathroom. eeewwww! |
Different poster here, are you speechless because 1) you disagree this is Marxist 'indoctrination' 2) you agree 3) you think Marx's words are important and annoyed poster said his words don't matter 4) you think Marxism in practice is odious and annoyed other poster would be quoting Marx with adoration Thanks, just curious and looking to understand your comment in the larger context. |
