Why do we need to become anything? Why would a God put labels on us?

He doesn't "become'' Muslim, we believe that all prophets that were sent were Muslim. Muslim means "submitted to God" so they all submitted to God, all had the same message from day 1: "worship the one true God". Each was sent a set of rules according to people of their times, I-e Moses was sent the torah, Jesus the gospel and Mohamed saw the Quran which was the final revelation for all mankind. Everybody who is left on earth afterJesus peace be upon him comes back will follow his message, whether jews, christians, ect.

Muslima, interesting stuff - thanks for sharing. I agree I should read the Qu'ran and as a Christian I have no problem with the idea that everyone is the same when Jesus returns, whatever you call it. I personally think we humans lack for ways to express divinity - our languages and religious conceptions are pathetically inadequate in the face of it.

You're welcome. I agree, the Quran teaches us that the people who will love us the Muslims the most will be the Christians : ( People of the book refers to Jews and Christians in the Quran)


"...and nearest among them in love to the believers will you find those who say, 'We are Christians,' because amongst these are men devoted to learning and men who have renounced the world, and they are not arrogant" (5:82).

Verily, those who have attained to faith [in this divine writ], as well as those who follow the Jewish faith, and the Christians, and the Sabians - all who believe in God and the Last Day and do righteous deeds-shall have their reward with their Sustainer; and no fear need they have, and neither shall they grieve. (Quran 2:62)

Not all of them are alike: Of the People of the Book are a portion that stand (For the right): They rehearse the Signs of God all night long, and they prostrate themselves in adoration. They believe in God and the Last Day; they enjoin what is right, and forbid what is wrong; and they hasten (in emulation) in (all) good works: They are in the ranks of the righteous. (Quran 3:113-114)

And there are, certainly, among the People of the Book, those who believe in God, in the revelation to you, and in the revelation to them, bowing in humility to God. They will not sell the Signs of God for a miserable gain! For them is a reward with their Lord, and God is swift in account. (Quran 3:199)

The following verse from the Quran capsulates this issue:

O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other (not that you may despise (each other). Verily the most honored of you in the sight of God is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And God has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).

God does talk about embryology:

"Man WE did create From a quintessence (of clay); Then WE placed him As ( a drop of) sperm In a place of rest, firmly fixed; Then WE made the sperm Into a clot of congealed blood; Then of that clot WE made A (foetus) lump; then WE Made out of that lump Bones and clothed the bones With flesh; then WE developed Out of it another creature. So blessed be ALLAH, The Best to create!" [AL-QUR'AN 23:12-14]

”The which (embryo) We placed in a place of settlement, firmly fixed for a period (of gestation), determined. For We do determine, for We are the best to determine (things). (77: 21-23).

“O mankind! If ye have a doubt about the Recreation (consider) that We created you out of dust, then out of sperm, then out of a leech-like clot, then out of a chewed-like lump of flesh, formed and unformed, in order that We may manifest (Our power) to you; and We cause whom We will to rest in the wombs for an appointed term.” (22: 5) .

The prophet saw said : “God will send the Messiah, son of Mary, who will descend at the white minaret on the eastern side of Damascus wearing two garments, lightly dyed with saffron, his hands resting on the wings of two Angels. When he lowers his head, beads of perspiration will fall from it, and when he raises it up, beads like pearls will scatter from it. Every non-believer who smells him will die, and his breath will reach as far as he is able to see.”

So , according to the islamic tradition, everybody who will be left on earth when Jesus peace be upon him will rule the world will be believers. They will all live peacefully under his guidance, religious sects will all disappear, wars are going to disappear. His reign will be marked by mutual respect, peace and prosperity among the people.
