I remember watching an after school special on tv (for those that are too young to remember, these were tv shows geared towards teens) where are a teen girl got pregnant this way. The bf said, "But I pulled out!". The gf response, "Well, maybe one got away." |
Gross. However, both OP and her DH are drips. If they don't want a 3rd there a many safe effective forms of birth control. Pull out--what are you in high school? Real men finish the job. Have him wear a condom, get snipped, you get your tubes tied, an IUD, female condom, diaphragm, get on the pill |
| If used correctly, by a man with decent control (not a teenage boy), it is actually as effective as condoms. DH and I have used it before, and we have never had an unwanted pregnancy. Of course it cuts down on some spontaneity, and some men have more control than others. |
| Yes. |
| My husband had two kids with the pull-out method. Works great for having unplanned kids. |
It has nothing to do with control. There is inconclusive data whether or not preejaculate (which men cannot feel and cannot "control") contains sperm. There are mixed studies which conclude both that it does and does not include sperm. If you want to risk a potential pregnancy based on the assumption that there is no sperm in preejaculate, go right ahead, but then don't be surprised if you have an "oops" child. Just as there is a lot of anecdotal evidence (like yours) of couples who have not conceived this way, there is a lot of anecdotal evidence of couples who accidentally got pregnant from this method. It's all inconclusive and basically risky. There are far more reliable methods of preventing pregnancy than this. |
| Yes. And the result is turning 8 next week. |
Or maybe you or your DH isn't particularly fertile... My XH pulled out before he came and I got pregnant from precum. I happen to be very fertile, however. I got pregnant once when a condom broke even though I took the morning after pill. And I always get pregnant the first cycle when I actually intent do get pregnant. |
| My best friend did, at 19, after using the pull out method for 3 years. She said at the time that she didn't realize she could get pregnant that way. That's what crappy sex ed and religious parents who refuse to talk about sex with their children will get you. |
| Yes. Abortion 9 weeks later, |
| Track your cycles carefully and abstain on your most fertile days. |
| To 00:14--Actually there is a lot of evidence that "pre-cum" does not have significant amounts of viable sperm. When I am at a computer and not my phone I can link some studies. The risk of getting pregnant is widely overstated to scare people away from using this method. Hormonal birth control is far more reliable, however no method is 100%. The failure rate when used correctly is around 1-2% and when used typically is around 10% which is on par with condoms. |
How many freaking kids do you have???
|
Exactly. For adults in a committed, monogamous relationship, it is a viable form of birth control. You have to know what you're doing, of course, and the guy actually has to pull out in time. We've used the method for five years and I've had no unwanted pregnancy. |
No, it doesn't, actually. People are replying to this thread based on what they think is true rather than science. Pre-cum will not impregnate you. If you've recently had sex and are going to have sex again shortly after, make sure the man urinates in between sessions. |
