I got pregnant twice using the pull out method.
The first time, was with my soon to be ex husband. We were separated, but hung out for a night to talk about things, got drunk, and ended up starting to have sex. As soon as he, um, put it in, he made 2 thrusts, and we decided that this was a horrible idea and he pulled out and we stopped. He did not finish, and we were only having sex for like under a minute. We were both absolutely floored when I later found out I was pregnant. And, no, it couldn't have possibly been anyone else's because that under 1 minute of sex was the only sex I had for a long time. I ended up getting an abortion. The second time was with my current husband. We weren't trying to get pregnant and were using condoms, but were out of them, so we did the pull out method that one time, right before he went on a long business trip. |
| Yes. |
Completely agree. Used this method for 8 years before getting an IUD. |
|
For the love of God, just go by some condoms.
Seriously, grow up. Hoping to get a third by accident because DH is too horny to be responsible? Really? |
That is insane. |
The pull out method....ah yeah, the reason my 4.5 year old is sitting next me.
|
| DH and I have been doing this for 5 years. Read the studies. It's as effective as condoms if your DH has good control. We've never had an accident. Pre cum doesn't contain sperm. They don't publicize this because condoms are effective against stds and they want teenagers using condoms. |
Wow, considering the medical community still is debating if sperm can reliably be found in all men in pre ejaculate, I'm impressed you know the answer. You should share your breaking medical news on "pre cum"
|
| I wonder how far in advance he would have to pull out? I've done this before and never gotten pregnant but my DH pulls out and immediately ejaculates. Makes me wonder if some already came out inside of me. |
This. And use a clear blue easy fertility monitor to double check. It is very simple. |
It may be very simple, but it's more than the "pull-out method". It is charting and tracking and abstention during fertile times. THAT is the reason why few people advocate for the pull-out method, and why some here have become pregnant using it. Unless it is applied ALONG WITH another method like natural family planning, it carries a substantial risk of pregnancy. |
| Currently pregnant with #3 after using the pull out method followed by Plan B...it does not work. DH pulled out in time, got Plan B the next day, still pregnant. |
Nope, sorry, you are wrong. We stopped using this method and I got pregnant in 2 months. When used correctly, this method is 96% effective. Condoms are 98% effective. I feel pretty comfortable with those stats. |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coitus_interruptus
"For couples that use coitus interruptus correctly at every act of intercourse, the failure rate is 4% per year. In comparison the pill has a perfect-use failure rate of 0.3%, and the I.U.D. has a perfect-use failure rate of 0.6%. The condom has a perfect-use failure rate of 2%.[9]" |
