IMHO if your kid needs this to get in, he or she might thrive more readily in a different program.

My kid doesn't need this to get in but wants to take it for fun. Is that ok with you and your humble opinion? Can a kid take it (like anything in life) even if he or she doesn't really need it to get in?

Have fun!

Oh, we don't do Dr. Li's class. I guess we won't have any fun this summer We were hoping DC's summer would be fun and relaxing before DC starts HGC next fall.

Some regimens are simply too taxing for some children. I hope your child has a lazy 3 month slumber to get ready for school in September. Elementary school is awfully challenging for some children. We understand. Elementary and summer school are a breeze for others.

Oh I agree, it can be a challenge for some, but for DC it was a breeze, that is why DC is going to HGC and compacted math. Thanks for your concern. Summer school? DC doesn't need summer school. And yes, my DC will have 2.5 months of a lazy summer instead of having "fun" at Dr Li's Funtastic Prep HGC/Magnet class.

My kids play soccer year round and go to school year round. They prefer that. Both went through HGC breezily. One is off to Magnet middle school the other is finishing magnet middle school. To each their own. I hope your kids will have as much fun as mine do in the summer.

This would bore my kids to death but not their grandparents!

I hope that none of you are the parents of children in my children's classes.

Prep classes would be torture to my kids. Lazy summers = lots of days at the pool, a couple of weeks of fun summer camps, probably lots of electronic time, a trip to the west coast and playdate with friends.

Perhaps your kids may want to reconsider the HGC and stay pool side year round if math and English are torture.

Is this for real? People take prep classes to get into the HGC and Magnets. Pathetic. Your kid is either smart enought to get in or not. They may as well learn that at some point. And no, I have no sour grapes. DC didn't even apply.

Signed,

Parent of a rising 4th grader who will be in compact math next year who thinks parents in this area need to CTFO.

But, my kid is already in the HGC and will participate in this program in the summer. I do not follow your logic.

Do not waste your time. There is no logic to follow.
