Spinoff of suit for interview -- pantyhose?

Of course you should wear hose. How is that even a question?

Have you read the other responses to this thread? Yea, no, its not the norm any more.

It may not be the norm day-to-day, however an interview is different. You wear them. Period. You won't get dinged for wearing them, but you certainly can get dinged for not wearing them. Not worth the risk to me and I HATE pantyhose.

+1!

In DC? In the humid summer? Hell no. I'd look 20 times worse if I were a sweaty mess wearing panty hose. Let me breathe!

I'm guessing you're a man whose never had a yeast infection or a UTI.

Not the PP, but I'm a woman who does wear hose. I've never got a yeast infection or a UTI. I don't even understand how wearing hose would cause either of these.

Err on the side of caution and wear them to the interview. You can always decide otherwise once you have the job.

Another vote for wearing hose to the interview no matter how disgusting dc is in the summer. Not worth the risk. And I look worse than Hillary Clinton in pantsuits.

NP here. Is there a generational divide - bare legs for low-to-mid-level positions and hose for mid-to-upper-level positions?

Not in my opinion. I wore them for entry and low level position interviews and continue to wear them today for interviews.

I'd say it is more a literal generation divide -- ON AVERAGE (always exceptions to the rule) those in their 20s and early 30s do not wear them on a regular basis, some will wear them for interviews. Older than that it is much more common. Don't assume that millenials/younger Gen Xers aren't in higher level positions. They are. And many got there without wearing pantyhose.

As for me, I never even thought about it. I'm 30. I've never worn them. Never had an issue and am a senior director at a nonprofit.

I'm happy for you, but guess what, you're just one woman. Many women do get yeast infections and UTIs, and wearing panty hose can increase the chances.

It depends on your age and skin tone. If you are young, wear a skirt to the too of the knee, and have nice skin tone - you can go without. Nude hose are like foundation make-up, they smooth the imperfections and make you look polished. You don't need full make up and hose every day, but for client meetings and interviews it's a nice touch.

I don't wear foundation (a little primer and a little concealer and I'm done) or hose... ah the benefits of youth.
