how much do you spend on clothing/shoes for you per month?

$5-$8k per month is nothing to be jealous about it; it is in lieu of a value system. i seriously hope these people don't have children.

We have 4. Not sure why the way I spend my money matters to you. I'm not the least bit interested in your children or your money.

A few hundred a year on clothes, a little more on shoes. I have been the same size since high school.

Yeah really. I'd love to have such a job to even afford that. I bet you look great. Haters can keep on hating

I get it but it doesn't bother me. I'm not afraid to say I highly value clothes, the people who design them, the artisans who make them, and the system that's setup to funnel those designs down to the more affordable price ranges. No shame at all for me since I'm supporting the work of people I genuinely respect.

Remember this quote?

"Oh... ok. I see, you think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select out, oh I don't know, that lumpy blue sweater, for instance, because you're trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back. But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue, it's not turquoise, it's not lapis, it's actually cerulean. You're also blithely unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar De La Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then I think it was Yves St Laurent, wasn't it, who showed cerulean military jackets? I think we need a jacket here. And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of 8 different designers. Then it filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic casual corner where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and so it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you're wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room. From a pile of stuff."

Lots of women on DCUM think they're exempt from this business.

Same.

I have a few expensive handbags, a dozen or so very dressy shoes and boots, some very classic party wear and dresses etc, lots of heirloom jewelry -- so I can be very well turned out for any occasion (but only if it is once in a while If there is an occasion where the clothes in my wardrobe does not work - I will shop for a dress for the occasion - but for the rest of the year, it is yoga pants or jeans and t-shirts.

You don't know that. You see fit to judge knowing virtually nothing about this woman. How's your "value system" working out for you? It looks pretty shallow from here.
