Weed smoking in BASIS bathrooms

Someone told administration and the police came.
And since it's not illegal to smoke in DC anymore, the boys were suspended for the rest of Friday and Monday.

How come there was nothing mentioned about this to parents?

My son has been going to Basis for two years and he's known as a complainer about students who make trouble. He's never mentioned this, so my question is who's your source.

Everybody remember that DCUM is full of people who give you nothing but vitriol about Basis. I need facts. OP, your urban legends just aren't good enough for me.

Show me some proof or STFU!

Even then, marijuana use will be illegal and punishable by a $25 fine. So, at least half of your post is wrong. I have doubts about the other half.

How is it half wrong? You want proof? Ask any 8th or 9th grader who goes to Basis.

Ask my son. Once again, I JUST DON"T BELIEVE YOU!

Basis parent here-Basis parents would have absolutely heard something about illegal drug use or smoking, if not from Aiken or the admin then definitely on the Basis parent listserv, which tends to have enough parents more than happy to turn most of what happens at Basis into an after school special as is.

So you're suggesting a bunch of students just made this story?

Maybe that's how they go caught.

If they're not learning to put a piece of masking tape over the smoke detector before lighting up it makes me wonder if they're learning anything at all.

Heck, a bunch of BASIS kids have been snorting/smoking smarties and the parents had to hear about it (and there's your proof that our math geniuses are still stupid adolescents). I doubt we wouldn't hear about actual drug use before the week is out.

Are smoke detectors now so sensitive that you couldn't smoke a cigarette or marijuana indoors? That's not the smoke they are supposed to detect.

Funniest posts ever! If you think that smoke detectors are used to detect cigarette or marijuana smoke, perhaps you need to go back to high school for some learning.

Basis parent here-there are cameras EVERYWHERE at Basis-there is NO WAY this would not have been found out immediately if it had happened. My kid got hit by another kid in the corridor and the admin knew before he had time to say anything about it because of all the cameras.

I guess the smoke detectors in bathrooms on airplanes serve another purpose?

I smoked weed and crack in the boys' bathroom at BASIS and I did it with your kid--he gave me the stuff.

Were you from Latin, Deal or Hardy?

BASIS has smart smoke detectors. They only detect smoke from burning building materials. Everyone knows this.

Oh silly Latin parent!

I am shocked, shocked that high school kids are smoking weed.

OP, what did you expect from posting this here?
