Cut out all carbs & work out twice a day.

I am approx 40 lbs overweight, so even if I lost 10 lbs I still have plenty of extra weight to live off of. I have been trying to lose weight so hard with consistent eating right (whole foods), exercise, lots of water and the scale doesnt budge. I am incredibly disheartened and am also taking a vacation in a week where I will spend much of the time in a bathing suit. I really just want to feel good and like I have made some progress. I just want to get through the trip a little smaller than I am now.

You have a baby. Next year your body will look better. Give yourself a break now.

Doing a cleanse can leach toxins into your body, not good for nursing a baby.

For the next two weeks, keep eating, drink a lot of water, cut down on the grains and sugar and salt, but don't starve yourself. You should see a small difference. But otherwise ...relax and give yourself permission to not be perfect. What's the real difference between 30lbs overweight and 40 lbs overweight if you can compromise your supply and be miserable for two weeks? Not worth it

Did you really say you want to lose the weight for a bet? I hope your significant other isn't putting you up to it.

It can't be done, and if you are that overweight there really is no point. You are going to be overweight no matter what you do, so just keep eating what you need to to keep yourself and your baby healthy and strong, and enjoy your vacation. Maybe you will get a chance to be more active than usual, or you can swim while someone else watches the baby. You are only 10 mos pp. If t hasn't come off on its own, it is still baby weight and there is not much you can do about it safely till the baby is weaned.

Don't you know you could dehydrate and die from cleansing ? But it's your funeral. Shit your guts out, at least you'll die 10 pounds lighter.

How much are you eating now to stay 40 lbs overweight? I weighed 90 lbs at 10 mos pp.

Oh shut up. I still had 35 lbs of baby weight at 10 months post-partum, even with exclusively breastfeeding (no pumping, no supplementing), eating healthy and staying active. OP, I agree with the other PPs (not this one) that you shouldn't do the cleanse. It's not good for you or baby. Relax and enjoy your vacation.

I found it very hard to lose weight while breastfeeding. It was like my body needed the fat.

Op, I didn't lose any significant weight until I weaned. It sucked, but it was only one year out of a lifetime, ya know?

Sign up for weight watchers, immediately. Go to meetings, follow it meticulously. You might not lose 10 lbs in 2 weeks, but you could lose close to that if you're overweight to begin with. Might not work for everyone but its a pretty good bet. It is v common to lose a lot the first week or two if you have a lot to lose. Its a v healthy program, supportive, and you can do it while nursing.

If you try to lose this much weight in such a short period of time your body will go into starvation mode which will make it more difficult to lose weight and you'll gain back everything plus some.

Embrace what you have and stop wishing away aspects of your life. You will have time and you will need time to do this.

Your baby wasn't eating solids at 10 months?

I didn't lose the last ten pounds of baby weight until I weaned. I'm not saying you should do that, just suggesting that your body may well have a reason for holding onto that weight. I was so annoyed about it-was eating healthy and exercising, but nothing doing until I stopped breast feeding.
It is what it is.

I can say with complete truth, I'd MUCH rather be 40lbs overweight than anorexic and look like a bag of bones. I bet you look completely disgusting in a bathing suit. Hey, but at least people throw donuts at you and make you into a human ring toss.

Don't throw stones, I'm sure the OP is way healthier than you.
