Who would take her place? After the horrible campaign she ran last time (have forgotten the name of her awful campaign manager), Louise Epstein doesn't seem like a viable candidate.

Catherine Lorenze?

Kilmer is an awesome school, I'll be very sad if my kids have to switch to Cooper just to relieve overcrowding instead of REDISTRICTING, which is what's needed. Don't use AAP kids to fix population problems. There is NO money in FCPS budget plan to renovate Cooper, so there are not enough resources for AAP there anyway.

Just wanted to point that out (bolded), for all those who insist AAP doesn't "cost any extra money" and that AAP kids aren't getting resources that General Ed kids are not. I'm not sure why FCPS feels it's ok to set aside funds for this one group at the expense of the General Ed population.

As for Cooper, it too is an awesome school, regardless of surface renovations. Hope it stays that way.

Just cause she said it, doesn't make it fact! Other than busing, AAP does not get extra funds or resources!

You want FCPS to move GenEd kids who are closer to Kilmer and Longfellow over to Cooper because you think AAP kids can't go to an unrenovated school, but more GenEd kids can? You will have a fight on your hands.

Then why the whining about Cooper "not being up to snuff" for the AAP kids? It's unbelievable that parents are demanding renovations specifically for this one group. Entitled much?

Not as though the GE kids there wouldn't benefit from a new facility and you can bet that the parents currently at Cooper will start whining when 200-300 AAP kids currently at Kilmer and Longfellow invade their precious, dumpy building they have right now!

Of course Cooper would benefit from a renovation. But I can't see the parents "whining" when most of those kids will be together for six years, first at Cooper and then at Langley. Ideally, the school would be renovated before more kids attended the school, but the current conditions aren't ideal.

I think the argument that Cooper needs a renovation specifically for the AAP students, should they go there, is the one that rankles. Yes, a renovated building would be great for everyone, but the argument seen here is that the AAP kids absolutely "have" to have a revamped facility or there is no way they could be taught there. It's laughable. Talk about the 'snowflake' syndrome.

That is not what anyone is saying, AAP hater...

....and are so insecure about their children's intelligence that they fear they can't make it without whatever the heck that "known" quantity is. How absurd. If your child belongs in AAP chances are they're steering their own learning at a higher level anyway.

what hooey!

yep. if sanity reigns, which is always iffy in this area.

Got news for you, sweetie. even with redistricting, those McLean and Great Falls kids would not be at Kilmer
