2 kids, 4 and 8
$13k preschool Camps and enrichment ~$2500 HHI $800k |
| 3 kids under 4. Full time childcare is $54k/year for all three. HHI $280k. |
|
2 yr old in daycare - $250/wk = $13k a year
90k HHI |

Right now:
$26k/yr for full-time montessori preschool for 3 year old. $28k/yr for infant care at same school for 5 mo old. HHI: $280K. We prepay tuition for the year (save 2.5%) so we don't feel it every month. |
That's a lot of money, I didn't realize preschool charged 2100-2300 a month. |
per child! |
| $155K, 1 kid in daycare, $1100/month Arlington. |
Not an option because neither of us is built to be a SAHP. Fortunately, we have some time to increase our income/decrease our expenses before my eggs rot (at least, I hope)... |
The school we are doing costs an arm and a leg, so I wouldn't say this is typical. We do it because it is close to our home (so good logistics) and is a true preschool (with trained/educated teachers) that has an aftercare component. |

20K au pair
25K for morning preschool, 5x week 2500 for camp 2 kids, 4 HHI 375K |

HHI is 290k
Kids 4 and 6 Full time daycare for 4 yr old - $14,400 Aftercare and camps for 6 yr old (estimating, as this will be first summer of camps) - $5500 Total $19,900. When they were both in daycare, we were paying $28,800/yr, so I definitely think we're coming out ahead. Everyone on here likes to say don't count on saving much money once they are out of daycare, but I think it can be a bit of an exagerration, or the result of choosing to do lots of additional classes, really expensive camps, etc. Although I should note that we can save on aftercare (both for school and camps) because we stagger out schedules and can pick up by 4pm (and only choose camps that go until 4pm!) |
| 400 per week for a nanny. We have 3 children 1, 2, 5 |
|
HHI 150k
Two kids, 2 & 4 $2500 a month total for preschool (9-3) and a couple extra hours/wk of aftercare. |
| Kids are 2, 2, 4 and 4, childcare costs are zero, four kids, HHI is $570k. |
Sounds like a SAHM who used fertility treatments and whose DH is a lobbyist or Big Law partner. |
