What weight-loss exercises can I do (or cheap exercise machine I can buy) while watching TV at home?

Highly suggest getting a stability ball! Cheapest equipment you can buy, I got mine through the Beachbody website and it was 30$. (http://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_gear/balance_ball.do) My routine is fairly simple; During commercials I do squats, jumping jacks, and push ups, then during the show I do all ball exercises which is usually a full body workout. If you need help with stability ball exercises I use this guide- http://www.realsimple.com/health/fitness-exercise/workouts/workout-with-exercise-ball-00000000045486/index.html

Do you have a Wii or other gaming console? If you do - there's plenty of workout "games" to try. For the Wii - I really like My Fitness Coach. I'm not as into videos b/c they're always the same - but My Fitness Coach is similar to the videos, but it's always a different program. Add in some handweights and a stability ball and you can get more out of the workout. Plus you can set the workout time to be whatever you can squeeze in. I find the intensity of these workouts to be a bit low for me, but they're great for someone just starting out.

I second this!

I've been a personal trainer and help people with weight loss of over 50 pounds in the past. The key is to maximize your time by doing circuit training so that you are always working quickly. Here's a link to workout I posted on my blog. http://trainingmitchwags.blogspot.com/2014/01/beginning-workout-written-for-friend.html Good luck with everything. Sometimes when people try to do the watch tv and work out they don't work out at a high enough pace so make sure you are getting your heart rate up.

I sometimes just stand on my BOSU ball when watching TV or on the computer (I have an elevated desk). Sometimes I stand on one leg. I throw in squats and one leg bends (like an RDL).

I do this because I'm a runner and building these stability muscles are critical.
