I think it's cool too. If nothing else, it can give you things to think about. (I'm 18:33.) I was horrified when I found out about the slave ownership in my family. We were taught in school that it was all those evil Southerners with the slaves. |
Mayflower descendent also. How many are there altogether? |
Yes, on my mother's side. My father's side fled Scandinavia in the 1900s. |
12 generation direct here, same last name. Not that impressive. As someone said, lots of us in New England. (though the 9th generation PP, that seems impossible). But welcome to the family I guess! Happy Thanksgiving. Celebrate like our forebears and pray all day ![]() |
We all arrived in the 20th century. |
Today there may be as many as twenty to thirty million descendants of these Pilgrims; 26,500 of whom are currently members of the Mayflower Society.

Nope, but I think it is really cool when people find out something interesting about their ancestors. My grandfather fled Nazi Germany and his stories always fascinated me. |
I'm jealous your stories were shared. There are several stories (including Holocaust stories) that my family chose to let die out. It's certainly their right and I might have made the same choice, but I wish I knew more. |
He was fortunate enough to escape the worst of it (although he has no idea what happened to several family members, including his older sister), but he always said that people won't know the stories if we don't share them. It was difficult for him at times, especially recalling the friends and family he lost, and he didn't always want to talk about it, but when he passed, he left everything detailing this time (journals, letters, attempts to locate missing family) to my dad with a promise that his stories would continue to be told. DS is too young to hear anything now, but I do look forward to the day that I can tell him about his great grandfather, whom he's named after. |
My husband's father's family. I'm the Jew that bastardized the bloodline ![]() |
Was it the Anne? Thank goodness for the Anne. Our ancestor came over on the Mayflower and had to wait for the Anne to get a wife! ![]() |
My mother and grandmother traced us back to the Chilton family from the Mayflower. |
My grandfather helped liberate Dachau and never talked about it; my father never tried to get details. I would like to know more so I could pass it along but so far haven't been able to find any more details. |
Mine too...in the hull of the ship
|
There's always one... ? |
