Mayflower on my mother's side and Jamestown on my dad's side. |
Oops! That ? was supposed to be a ![]() |
Some of my family came on the Mayflower and some came to Jamestown even earlier.
And, my husband immigrated in the 1970s. So our kids have both somewhat old and very recent immigrants in their background. |
This is really cool. Best I've got is Ireland, 1870s |
yes, paternal grandmother's family. same last name.
we are not old money/DAR and my mom's side of the family were poor eastern europeans who came here in the early 1900s. |
Is that something to be proud or ashamed of? |
I saw a Descendants of the Mayflower license plate today. Didn't even know that existed. How pretentious. |
+1 I don't think this is something to be proud of. Your ancestors are the reasons mine were here, and also the reason why I'll NEVER know my history beyond a few generations. |
save it |
It okay for you to talk about your history but not me? Okay, I got it ![]() |
Neither. Lineage is a simple fact that people have no control over. |
Don't you know that the spoils go to the victors? Hence YT's ways and beliefs are the right way and the truth. |
PP you are an asshole. |
+2 They are the reason my ancestors got smallpox, and evidently lost the privilege to be known as native. Nevermind the fact they started the rumor that Columbus discovered god land my people were already living on. |
+3 And continue to celebrate the man!! |
