My child is a July birthday and there has been no mention of red-shirting. He has been and continues to be with his grade. He absolutely loves the school, the teachers and his friends and is doing very well. |
Actually, years ago the cut-off was the end of June when MD cut-off was 12/31. So, they weren't redshirting all kids, they just had a cut-off date that was 6 mo. earlier than most schools. |
| Our pediatrician recommended a local specialist in anxiety disorders when our 1st grader at green acres was having symptoms. She told us that, in her experience, Green Acres was a toxic environment for kids and she regularly sees the results in her north bethesda practice. She advised us to pull our child. We did not think the school had anything to do with child's symptoms, so we did not follow her advice - we regretted it when later it came to light that our child was not sharing what happened to them at school. Happy ending though, at a new school and thriving, no more anxiety. |
They stopped asking for that age group when the economy tanked. They had to take everyone. |
Umm, what happened at the school that affected your child so much? |
How recent was this? There is a newish head of the lower school. No warmth or substance buy reported to be an improvement over the predecessor. |
| Love the "North Bethesda" in quotes. That really gets my goat. As someone who hates 270 I just really want to know if I need to go up 270 (or way up Rockville Pike). Be honest if it's really Rockville or Gaithersburg. My driving sanity depends on it. |
|
It's at Rockville Pike & Montrose, basically. |
| Yeah, that's Rockville. |
| It's the area around Grosvenor/Tuckerman/White Flint/Nicholson that seems to be the "North Bethesda" sweet spot. When I became an initial owner of one of Tuckerman Lane condos in 1988n it was clearly advertised as Rockville. By the time I sold 12 years later, the realtors had morphed it into "North Bethesda." One thing that never changed was the zip code: 20852. Sounds like Rockville to me! |
The predecessor was an unorganized, lying, hypocritical, narcissistic, incompetent woman. |
|
Hard to believe all the descriptions of this school when you consider it was supposed to be about love and cheeriness. Sounds a bit like abuse.
My sense is that it is a facade to make money. The teachers want to keep their jobs, fool parents, and do no work. Not uncommon in private schools. Nice building, but crazy staff. |
AGREE!!!! |
why do you say so? Examples please. |
