Despairing over finding decent daycare in Lorton/Burke/Fairfax Station

I laugh at this because a majority of babies left in a car have been by the parent themself or a relative.

My DS #3 is dragged all over God's creation, he's learned to do 10-minute power naps sometimes, and he's fine. Do I like doing that? No. But you're not even close to there yet, and you should have the perogative to select a provider you're 100% comfortable with, without having to deal with nutso PP.

Also, have you talked with Infant Toddler about your concern? I can't imagine they would "approve" of one of their providers operating like what you've noted.

If you haven't already, go on the VA DSS website and see what other homecare providers are in the areas you've been looking into.

I operate my own daycare and have transported children to/from preschool (the furthest away being roughly 10 miles maybe) and never once did i have a parent complain nor did the county ever tell me I shouldnt be doing it nor it was against any regulations. They will most likely say if you arent comfortable with that, move onto another provider. I tell prospective clients up front that I do transport, what we do while we are out, they have my cell phone number and are free to call me at any point, but they are also aware if I am busy with the kids OR driving, I will NOT answer the phone. I let them know up front if they are not comfortable with this arrangement, then they shouldnt consider joining my daycare. Simple.

If Old Keene Mill and Hanover work for you, then look into Yesenia's. We've been here since September of last year and couldn't be happier.

Maybe you should just consider staying home. Doesnt sound like you are going to be comfortable with anyone who watches your child

No matter if the child is in the carseat, the child will be fine. You dont expect the provider to interact with your child every. single. minute. of. the. day. do you? What will you expect her to do when meals need to be prepared or another child needs her help. or god forbid the provider need to use the bathroom.

OP here. Um, if I could stay home, I wouldn't be despairing over finding a day care. I can't stay home.

And no, I don't expect a provider to interact with him every minute. Even I shower and use the bathroom. But I don't want him stuck in a bouncy seat all day or a car seat 2 out of 8 hours a day. That's no demanding every minute be 1-1 interaction, and I think it's reasonable.

OP, I think you're being perfectly reasonable. I hope one of the suggested places work out for you. Good luck.

OP, I wouldn't put an infant with a provider who has to drive that much during the day. It isn't about the provider - I am a neurotic and anxious mom, and it would stress me to no end.

We used a great provider in West Springfield - just off of 7100 and Rolling Roads. If you are interested, let me know and I'll post her info.

Not OP, but searching for in-home care in Springfield and came across this thread. I would truly appreciate it if you could post this provider's info! Thank you!

Not PP, but people spell out phone numbers or email (at gmail dot com) to keep internet trawlers from finding them.

OP here. I do still need a day care. But Vienna would be way too far away. Thank you, though!
