| Yay cannoli! Anybody know where to get the soft almond macaroons? I have yet to see them outside of Italian bakeries in the northeast (CT & NY) and really, really want some... |
not at all backdoor! They are the original Vaccaro's of Washington! |
Just because I grew up there, I feel like I have to do this.....they are Vaccaro's of Baltimore! You gotta give us something besides cop shows about drug addicts and crab cakes! Haha. That said, these cannollis are being dealt out of a bakery in Silver Spring, so that designation does get dicey..... |
nope. My parents started that wholesale business and my brother runs it now and we are not from Baltimore and have no affiliation with the Vaccaro's of Baltimore. We have been making cannoli in Washington since 1906. |

Pete's in Friendship Hts. has them:

Where is the door to enter? I tried the main door from the street and no one answered. Guess I need to try again. |
| I guess the back door would be around back. Ha,ha |
| Ring the bell at the front door which is on Brrokvile. There is no back door. They are not there on the weekends usually. |
|
I actually drive to Baltimore to pick up stuff at Vacarro's.
To the best of my knowledge, that's the closest place to get real sfogliatelle. |
|
There is a tiny door bell/buzzer on the door. I've gone there about 3 times in the past 6 months. I go during the day, M-F.
They'll let you into the factory and sell you the goods. Cash only! |
I buy the filling to use between cake layers
|
|
But, they are bad. They don't taste right -- almost as if they made them intentionally "healthy" and cut way down on the fat and sugar (filling) and oil (for the fried shell.) |
That's cassata cake!
|
Didn't know there was an actual name for it. I Use it in many different cake flavors |
| I do that too but just call it cannoli cake! |
