How many times per day do you run your dishwasher?

Two adults, one toddler - once per day. Sometimes we'll skip a day.

family of four, I'd say we run it every other day. I seriously can't imagine running it 2-3 times/day, that's just insane!

I never put cutting boards in the dishwasher, OP. they take up way too much room. Also, we use one glass all day (but I only drink water. My husband will sometimes drink milk in his and then just rinse it).

Family of 3. Every other day (and I do put cutting boards in, but I'll often just cut small things on a plate).

As for our dishes, a typical load will be breakfast glasses, Dinner dishes/glasses/silverware, cutting boards (I generally use two to prepare a meal), and lunch dishes (my son's sippy cups from daycare, his food containers, and my containers since I pack my lunch). And of course the occasional random dish or three. That packs our dishwasher to the breaking point. I'm beginning to think I need to think about getting a bigger, more efficient machine...

That sounds like pretty much all your dishes in one load. what are you putting in the other load or two?

My DH is a master at loading. He can fit 3 days worth of stuff in our average-size machine. He likes to give tutorials.

OP here again. Thanks all for your feedback. My second load (not every single day) is usually when I've made large batches of baby food - I still do pureed apples, pears, peaches, and other mixed dishes. So load #2 consists of my vegetable steamer parts, food processor parts, knives, more cutting boards, etc... Or if it's a day after I've made the baby food, the load also contains the ice cube trays that I freeze the purees in. Realistically, load #2 happens about twice a week. Load #3.... well that's honestly pretty rare - like I said, if I've had family or friends over for dinner or brunch.

I also tracked down the model number on my dishwasher and I was able to find out it is a 1999 model. 13 years old - it's been a trooper!

Family of 5, 1-2 times a day. Usually just once though.

Once a day. I can't leave dirty dishes overnight....even in the dishwasher. I run it right before we go to bed and unload first thing in the morning.

Once at night and unload in the morning. Four people.

Ok, you seriously need to start hand washing some things. The food processor parts, ice cube trays, and steamer parts should be hand washed. I also don't think you're supposed to put sharp knives in the dishwasher.

If you cook a lot it is normal.
