Oh, wow. Would you mind sharing your recipes? |

I don't get what's with "mince pie"? What is mincemeat anyway?
We don't make this anymore but it was a favorite of the older generation (most of whom aren't around anymore). |

Hate to sound like such a Scrooge, and I'm a white American, but I dislike all thanksgiving food. Turkey is bland, my sil insists on makIng the stuffing and adds oysters and nuts-so she essentially ruins it, and all the other stuff grosses me out too. I don't like any of the pumpkin stuff or savory type spices and I dOnt like pie so this holiday is just a pain for me. Plus my in laws treat my sil and me like a catering staff so I pretty much dread the whole thing.

Turkey
Sweet potatoes with marshmallows on them (blech). Love sweet potatoes though Cranberry sauce of any type Pumpkin pie I'll serve them, but will just eat other stuff that day. |
| I don't like any type of pie. Don't like squash. Never had the sweet potato /marshmallow thing but can't imagine it being particularly good. |
| I don't like cranberry sauce from a can- it leaves a tannic feeling/taste in my mouth, and I once saw someone consuming it with a straw. Turned me off for life. |
| I also hate turkey, sweet potatoes, cornbread, pumpkin anything (and Thanskgiving) |
| I hate all the traditional foods. If it was up to me thanksgiving dinner would be salad and maybe a nice risotto. |
Me, too (with the exception of apple pie, which I love)! On years when we don't travel to our families', DH and I have done beef tenderloins, risottos, cornish game hens. Garlic-roasted root vegetables. Amaretto apple crisp for a lighter and yummier dessert. Part of what turns me off is the sheer gluttony. Stuffing and mashed potatos and sweet potatos and rolls, and, and, and..... I have family members who are seriously overweight and it's upsetting to watch people just eat thousands and thousands of calories at one meal. |
| Hate sweet potatoes with a passion. Also hate gravy. I like the cranberry sauce from a can, though. |
| Dislike cranberry sauce, cranberry relish, cranberry compote . . . well, you get the idea. |
|
I also hate the sweet potatoes with marshmallows. So gross. I'd rather just have plain sweet potatoes.
Gravy has to be homemade. I can't stand the jarred stuff. There was an onion dish my mom used to make (no idea what it was exactly) that everyone raved about but I hated. I like everything else. Turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, even green bean casserole (we make ours with gluten free cream of mushroom and homemade french fried onions now, ever since we stopped eating gluten). |
| Pumpkin Pie -eeeeewww!! |

I hate just about all of Thanksgiving. I pretty much like the stuffing/dressing.
I LOATHE the sweet potato stuff with marshmallows and other sweet stuff. I hate pecan pie (also too sweet). I hate brussels sprouts. I got food poisoning off of a turkey sandwich one year, and don't like to look at turkey (it was bad mayo, but my brain still hates the turkey). I didn't grow up with the green bean casserole stuff, but it doesn't sound good. Of course, I cook whatever needs cooking. I try not to host, but go somewhere else and bring some sides that I do like. This year, I'm making a broccoli and breadcrumbs dish that my grandmother used to make, mac and cheese for the kids, and my mother's sausage stuffing. I usually come home the next day and cook some chicken breasts with a poultry-seasoning flavor to have our own "leftovers" of stuff we do like. |

Green bean casserole
Creamed onions (is that a popular Thanksgiving food? It was something my mom always had on the table at Thanksgiving) and... Pumpkin pie. I know! |
