s/o how many hours of sleep do you get each night?

Anonymous
If I get less than 7, I feel sick the entire day. I'm best on 8-8.5. I go to bed at 9 or 930, wake up 530 to run.

Sure. But if you don't get enough sleep, you'll die sooner.

Get about 6.5 hours per night, often with 1-2 interruptions (3 year old who recently discovered that getting out of bed in the middle of the night is "fun" and a 1 year old with molars coming in). I'm exhausted all the time and often go to bed at 8:30pm on Friday nights just to try to catch up.

About 8. Asleep by 10, up at about 6-6:30.

I sleep 6-7 hours a night because I stay up talking to my husband. I think it is essential so that I don't become a single mom.

WOW what a bitch you are. Perhaps you should stop talking and listen a little more (or read in this case). You have absolutely zero idea why I'm a single mom. However, I can bet everything I have that I'm ten time more productive than you, which is probably the real reason you're staying up late.

You are extremely defensive. You asked the question and I answered it honestly. There is no other time for me to spend with my spouse and our marriage suffers when we don't spend time alone. I wish I had more time to sleep.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with spending time with your spouse. I commend you for that. However, pointing out that you are spending time with your husband so that you "don't become a single mom," after I just said that I am one, was pretty bitchy. It implies that it is my fault that I am one.

Fine. I can accept that you stand by the first sentence of your statement, but the rest doesn't follow at all.

I get about 8 hours, from roughly 10-6. I was much happier with my sleep when I used to get 9-10 hours a night pre-kids. But I'm happier overall with them!

Anonymous wrote:Well I NEED at least 8/9 a night but I can no longer sleep for that long straight through without a sleep aid (Tylenol PM usually works but sometimes I need an ambien). When I dont take a sleep aid I wake up every few hours. Its been that way since I had babies. It sucks. Then I can not make it through the day without a nap. I will literally go hiome mid-day, nap for an hour, then return to work. I can falls asleep really fast, too. It really sucks. So, I take a sleep aid almost every night. I try to not use them on the weeknds and nap instead.

I wake up all the time like this too! It impacts my quality of sleep and I need more because it's not as good. Any suggestions?

I too am one of those "need 8 hours" people. I even remember in high school noticing that many of my friends went to bed very late or woke up to write papers at 5am and I couldn't bear the thought of that.

I've always tried to, and been lucky enough to, structure my life so that I can go to bed at a reasonable time and wake up not too early. I never sleep very late (past 7:30 or 8 at the absolute latest).

I go to bed between 10 and 11 and struggle to get up at 6:30. Last night I couldn't sleep and was up til past midnite. Boo.

7.5 to 8

Reading this, I'm thanking God, I only need about 6hrs of sleep (ideally 7 though). Not sure where I would get an extra 2 if I needed 8. As it is I get up to work out at 5am and am always up until at least 10 doing crap.

I hear the older you get, the less sleep you need, at least there is one benefit to old age.

This is how I feel when I'm in Vegas. Otherwise...I need and get 8 hours a night. When DD was a baby I was dying. Now that's she's 4, I'm in heaven.

DH and I both need 8 hours (but he sometimes has trouble sleeping). On weekends, DH sleeps 10 hours a night.
