I dont understand this thread? You can tell whether any person is ugly: black, white, hispanic, gay, lesbian, jewish, catholic, etc?

Its not even about outward appearence its about a persons preference and also if they are a stuck up ass.

Ugly is such a horrible word. Just because one person does not find something or someone attractive, does not mean that someone else does not find it beautiful. Ugly is just so negative.

i understand what OP is asking but she asked it in a completely insulting manner. the real question is, "do you understand beauty definitions in other cultures?". every culture has a unique defintion of beauty and i don't believe there is a universal one (not counting basic kindness).

my parents come from a south asian country and the south asians i think are beautiful don't fall in their opinion. likewise vice versa. i have westernized ideals of beauty whereas they have south asian. there was a thread recently about "shahs of sunset" and people were posting that one of the characters, GG, was "ugly". i would argue that by south asian and middle eastern standards, she has some attractive characteristics. big eyes, etc. but these arenot necessarily attractive in all cultures.

I think there's usually more consensus around who is pretty than who is beautiful (or ugly). Pretty has a generic quality about it. People who are considered really beautiful often have something unusual or exaggerated about their features that sets them apart (above/below). I think Anne Hathaway, Uma Thurman, and Julia Roberts fall into this category. Most people, though, would say someone like Julie Bowen is pretty.
