[/quote] I think there's usually more consensus around who is pretty than who is beautiful (or ugly). Pretty has a generic quality about it. People who are considered really beautiful often have something unusual or exaggerated about their features that sets them apart (above/below). I think Anne Hathaway, Uma Thurman, and Julia Roberts fall into this category. Most people, though, would say someone like Julie Bowen is pretty. [/quote]
