GOP health care plan:Shoot people who want to get health care done without going into massive debt with their own 2nd amendment-protected guns and laugh all the way back to the health insurence office where you work. |
it is a power game
A president can declare war without congress permission, or UN support, but cannot provide his people with access to healthcare International observers are all saying this will cost the republicans a lot in the elections. And even BBC has mentioned the name of the lawyer who will go down in history as the man who killed the bill I am no longer in the mood to watch the fightin politicians. They are in the profession for their personal gain, not ideals |
Perhaps you weren't alive in the 1940s, before WWII, but my parents were. And back then, there were no preservatives, no MSG, no food coloring, etc. They ate a whole lot more than meat and vegetables. Flour, for example, does not require preservatives, neither does rice, nor most grains. Food can be canned and bottled without preservatives, and shipped just about anywhere. No one will starve, and there will be less obesity, heart disease, diabetes, the main drivers of health care costs and of the national debt (aside from wars, thank you GWB). My health care plan beats the Democratic and Republican plans. |
Hmmm, the average life expectancy back then was 62 for most people. And only 53 for blacks. But if it's only money you care about... |
I am sorry but this debate about food is not about money, and you are missing the point if you think changing these standards will some how lower our life expectancy... What we have been putting in our food for decades now has long term effects that we haven't even begun to deal with and how it effects children's health and development is the subject of a nation wide study. The rise in rates of asthma, obesity, autism and allergies is alarming enough for scientist to be paying attention to what has changed. Children live in a world were new chemicals are introduced to their systems at a unprecedented rate- I think in not addressing these issue is where you can expect our life expectancy to be effected negatively... |
I am all for eliminating artificial foods wherever possible - I try to eat that way myself. But in additional to innumerable logistical problems with this "plan," it's basically the liberal food policy version of trickle down economics. If we make fun of Republicans when they peopose such nonsense, we can't exactly appropriate it for ourselves when convenient, can we? I mean, my hypocrisy only goes so far.
BTW, I think the PP is the love child of Ronald Reagan and Alice Waters. |
Think globally, act locally.
Think globally: The earth has a toxic infestation that is upsetting its balance, giving it a fever and a skin rash -- us! To cure the planet of this infestation, the most effective attack is local. Poison us one by one with junk food, industrial waste, and pollution. What people are complaining about is actually the salvation of mother earth, so stop being so self-centered. Sort of joking, but not entirely, and certainly not laughing at it. |
the whole country is going over the cliff with Europe . This is due to bloated government , unions , liberal refusal to accept reality. Reality is poised to punch our country in the face. |
And when we report to the ER for treatment of massive trauma from the reality face-punch, the Republicans will be waiting at the door to collect cash payment in advance.

Spoken with the intelligence of the typical welfare recipient. If it weren't for those of us who keep people like you alive....... you'd die of your own incompetence. |

OMG - this discussion is so ridiculous - the "Affordable" Health Care Act - is that an oxymoron? If someone can't afford healthcare, they just can't afford it. I think these people on the Hill have no clue what it means to be on a fixed income and not be able to "afford" something.
Again, if somebody cannot afford health insurance but is above, say, $54K income for a family of 4 in NoVA (medicaid max income) - they still get no insurance, so this law is crap - they get penalized for being poor and have to shell out $$$ in taxes? That's horrible! For shame! Medicaid should be seriously expanded to cover people who - truly - cannot "afford" health care, preexisting conditions should always be covered, and call it a day everyone. |
