"I've spent the past 2 days trying to convince my 16 y/o she is not a "slut""

My first question is why is congress holding hearings about who should pay for birth control?

Seriously, why not hold hearings on how to get families off governemnt sponsored programs and working? Why not work on helping adults who can't read get involeved in programs to read, do we really need to care about who pays for a women's birth control pills?

How about puting the focus on Rush' drug shopping problem-

Serious problems out there folks, a lot bigger than this.

doesnt mean its right, just that limbaught wasnt the root of the teasing. the girls attacking this daughter would be doing this regardless of limbaught it seems

The point is that the stuff he's says on the air is used by bullies the world over in their attempts to demean people they don't like or agree with. He's an incendiary guy.

this could have happened but it requires a lot of dominos to fall in place. first, the daughter goes around telling people at school she takes birth control pills. second, she cant be the only girl at her school to be taking birth control. if there are no 16 year olds taking the pill at the school, im sure there are 17-18 year olds who are. third, her "friends" parents have to not only agree with rush but also have a conversation with the kids about it all that i found hard to believe. as much as i hate people who hang on every word of rush (or any personality for that matter on either side), i find it hard that rush is a dinner conversation topic when the kids come home.

Clearly reading comprehension isn't your forte. The daughter did not brag about being on birth control. She went on a school sponsored week long trip and had to have her medication dispensed by the accompanying physician.

Even if she HAD told someone at her school that she was on BC, that doesn't excuse this kind of behavior at all.

Riiiiigggghhhhtttt -- because Rush coined the term slut? Because the girls never called each other sluts before Rush?

I'm obviously not a Limbaugh fan, but there is absolutely no justification for violence to be used against him and I would condemn any such suggestion. The best tactic to use against Limbaugh is pressure on his sponsors. Since a large number of them have pulled advertising, this is a strategy which is actually succeeding.

Yes! I agree actually...Just saying that there are certain elements of the political fringe that would not be so reasonable. IMO, we should just send him Big Macs and cartons of cigarettes and hope he goes out like Breitbart.

No it doesn't. However, 30 years ago when I was in high school my best friend was on BC. She told a few people and bang before long she was a "slut and a whore." The girls were jealous and the horny guys wouldn't stay away. Did she deserve the bullying--hell, no, but it wasn't RL fault then anymore than it is RL's fault in the currant instance. The child's privacy was breached by the school and they school is solely responsible for the information becoming public. Sadly, mean kids will use that information now to put someone else down just as they did 30 years ago. Blaming RL idiotic statement for this situation isn't realistic and shows a lack of understanding of high school social politics and what some mean kids will and say to remain/gain popularity.

i never used the word "brag". that was you. going around telling people could have been done in passing or other means. no way was i suggesting bragging. plus who brags about taking birth control pill for an apparent medical condition? again you used the word brag. not me.

second, im not excusing being teased. im more questioning that limbaugh was the driving force behind it. this is all about limbaugh being the root of this and thats what im questioning. just because the act is wrong (which it is) doesnt give someone the free will to assign blame to the first thing that comes to mind. thats my issue here.

so is the new rule to be ok with blaming rush with every instance a woman is called a whore or slut?

I responded here about my Weathermen comment but maybe it got deleted I don't know... but I was saying I didn't think that was a reasonable response, just that it could happen--and that we should hope that Rush is fully stocked with cigarettes and Big Macs so he can go out like Breitbart.

Your comment is right there, three message or so up. But, I also disagree with wishing health problems on Rush. Fight ideas with better ideas. That's all.

Slut or slattern is a term applied to an individual who is considered to have loose sexual morals or who is sexually promiscuous. The term is generally pejorative and often applied to women as an insult or offensive term of disparagement, meaning "dirty or slovenly."[1] However some women have demonstrated saying they're proud of being "sluts", and have given it a positive connotation.[2][3]

did you read the article? Because the girls that were doing the teasing cited "that guy on the radio" "who just says it like it is".

I did read that and thats when I started doubting the story.

I am overal doubting this story. It sounds too good to be true that a story started less than a week ago has already filtered down to where kids are being teased referencing Rush.

My doubt has nothing to do with how I feel what Rush did was wrong or somehow "accepting" kids teasing another.

I am simply casting doubt that this what reads like some sensationalized story is true. Im not doing a Rush calling the author a name or even insulting her daughter. Im focused on the substance of the story which to me seems over the top.

If this indeed happened and the kids were truly attacking her because "rush said so" then wow thats crazy. Unfortunately, I cant believe that at this point. Im not sure what I need as proof to change my doubt, but that story isnt doing it. Maybe a news feature on this or something will change my mind. I dont know.

I guess it can't be true because it's so awful? ^^ Why would you doubt this woman? She has proof, a hate note that was put in her daughter's locker. It said:

"Little miss innocent, huh? Whatever slut- you take birth control pills so you can f*&# every guy in school! What a joke- u are nothin but a whore! Pretty bad when some guy on the radio who isn't afraid to tell the truth has to break it down for everybody- if u on the Pill u are nothing but a skank ass ho! My mom said girls on the pill are tramps who just wanna get laid and don't care about nothin- is that how u are?"

Why would you think someone would make this up?
