Anyone know when HGC letters are sent and how much time u have to accept/decline?

| My recollection was you had longer to decide. A few weeks before the open house and then maybe another week or so. I think the deadline was right before break. |

Thanks for the one who posted on letter received for today (8:36am Chevy Chase).
We leave in Silver Spring. Our mails arrive at later afternoon. So, we don't need to worry for the rest of the day. |

| I called MCPS. There is an error on that website page. The HGC notification letters will not be sent in February, they will be sent in April, just as they always are. I was told that they are just going thru the HGC screening process now. I think they will probably correct that statement about a Februray notification on the website. So, we all can stop looking for the HGC notification until April. |

| Also, hoping it actually comes before spring break starts, though I know that'd be in march. If it comes during break, many people wouldn't be home to get it right away. |

I momentarily freaked out today when in the mail there was a letter from MCPS--then I saw that it was only a parent survey.

| Last year was before spring break (which of course is not the same week every year). I called to confirm that my reply had been received and realized mid-message that is was vacation week and of course there was no one there! |

For all the parents, who are waiting with anxiety, would not it be nice if the same services were available in the home school so that your kids did not have to go through this nervewracking experience?
