You seem like a woman with hormonal imbalance. Pay for your own damn pills. |
We fund PP because, in the words of George Bush the Elder, family planning is a matter of public health. We shouldn't fund any religious institutions because that violates the Establishment Clause. |
Please point to the part of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, or any of the other Amendments that exempts religious organizations from any sort of tax. I'll wait. [Waiting . . . ] [Still waiting . . . ] OK, time's up. You can't find it because the Founders "decided" nothing of the sort. Tax exempt status for religions is not in the Constitution. A court made this determination, based on an interpretation of the Constitution, and now it's the law of the land. Just like the right to privacy, for example. Interesting how one of those decisions is always cast as the height of judicial activism, and a plague on this great land of ours, and the other is a bedrock of our freedom. So, let's make a deal. We won't worry about taxing religions, and in return you accept that the right to privacy exists, with all that entails. OK? |
wow, elderly people are on par with the others in your mind? sad. |
You need to reread the Establishment Clause. |
only religious and charitable organizations should be used for assisting the poor, the government should GTFO |
An appropriate response from an ignorant and uneducated person. Thank you for your participation. |
Is that the bar you set for your Church? We're better than illegals, drug addicts, and lazy people? |
somebody needs to read the federalist papers and also read the part of the establishment clause that says freedom of religion, not freedom from religions. |
A. the constitution says nothing about tax breaks. B. we actually give them money. we don't have to do that, regardless of whether or not they are allowed tax-free status. |
The first clause of the Bill of Rights: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion" says we are all free to have no religion! |
We subsidize many, many worse things. |
Yeah, look how well that works out across history. Maybe we should reestablish debtor's prisons, too. |
Not sure that is a great argument. We could just as easily say the Church tolerates much, much worse things than a health plan that contains contraceptives. |
Like priests raping little boys. |
