They can have tax exempt status per the Constitution, but they should not be able to accept federal funding for medical or social programs. The country will survive without them. Health care is big business, other nonprofits will step up to do the social programs, and then the Church can do whatever charity work it deems is part of its mission, but on its own nickel. |
You would think, right? Independent school employees apply for grants awarded by the DOE. Their accountants are as good, if not better, than GE. Just saying. |
