When you ask folks to help you "save your family" that indicates an emergency. But maybe your interpretation of family togetherness is different.

Oh brother... Not an emergency in the sense of TIME SENSITIVENESS. Jesus Christ! If you can't help with names what are you doing here anyway? Are you one of the lawyers that didn't respond or are you the one who is mad because you didn't even know what we were talking about when we mentioned the name of the forms we've been filling and what stage of the immigration process we're in?

Your legal status expires in July and your husband's status is up in the air as well....and he can't come to your home country if you are deported. Meanwhile, you're about to have a third kid. Yeah, doesn't sound like you have an emergency at all.
You sound like such a peach..don't know why the good old USA hasn't snatched you up yet as one of her citizens. |
| LOL |
WTH is wrong with you? Let's read together... e·mer·gen·cy? ?[ih-mur-juhn-see] noun, plural -cies, adjective noun 1. a sudden, urgent, usually unexpected occurrence or occasion requiring immediate action. No, I'm not about to be deported next week. We still have several months to figure this out so I thought writing an email to explain everything would be much easier than leaving a voice mail with my horrible accent just to get a call back God knows when. I hate talking on the phone and would rather talk in person or use written communication. BTW I have no interest in being an American citizen, thank you very much. And you don't know why because you have no idea what you're talking about. For one to become an American it takes several years and you don't "snatch" anybody. Actually the opposite. You humiliate us, take our money and after we've been through the whole thing we might or might not get what we came here for. Anyway, thanks for nothing. I actually have an idea of who you are now...

What's funny? |
| Maggio & kattar are known to be the best immigration firm in dc. I think Elizabeth quin, also mentioned by a pp, works there. Keep on trying them. If there was some initial confusion with them about your status, you may just have to be a little more patient getting them up to speed. Sometimes clients have an unrealistic expectation that their lawyer will be able to give immediate advice. |
it was not about immediate advice. we wanted to set up a consultation and the lawyer i talked to didn't even know what i was talking about. they literally had no clue what i was talking about... DH company's attorney is very sharp in this issues and we always talked about it, the problem is that DH's company won't keep the sponsorship for spouses so we need to find someone who'll do it. It's a very complex situation that's why we need someone very knowledgeable. i'll try calling the names who ignored my email... |
So why the fuck are you bothering us with your non-emergency? Move to your husband's country since he can't come to yours. Typical immigrant....dislike America, yet you fight tooth and nail to stay. |
Do you really have to resort to this kind of language? Is it lack of vocabulary or argument? No, I don't dislike America. I love this country and the people I met/made here but I have no intent to become a citizen and I hate the immigration process. Too bad I can't do anything to change it and whoever can has no interest in doing anything about it. Anyway, I'm not bothering anybody. You could just skip the thread if you have no interest in helping but still you come back for more. What's wrong with you? V's day failed and you're still bitter? Go get a cup of hot chocolate, lady, be happy! |
Well, since you asked what the hell was wrong with me, I figured you weren't the type who had a problem with cursing. Perhaps that only applies when you're not on the receiving end. You have to know that you come off as incredibly self-entitled. America doesn't owe you anything, so your frustration about the laws surrounding immigration don't matter. Blame illegal aliens (which it sounds like you may become) for how difficult it is to gain legal citizenship here. In case you didn't know it, the goal of America is not to make immigration easy for everyone who wants it; I'm sure your home country is just as tough (probably more so). In any event, it looks like you will be taking my advice (actually calling the lawyers instead of waiting for an email response), so I'm not sure why you got all bent out of shape to begin with. I would wish you good luck, but since you make it clear that you're not interested in citizenship, I'll decline. |
You're such a disgusting vile person! How dare you? Wash your mouth before talking about my country. When you were here fighting your civil war we opened up our borders for you. We received you, Americans, with open arms, gave you land for free and jobs for every one of you who were interested in pursuing happiness in a far away land. Our government gave you tax exemption for decades until you could stand on your feet, gave you money to invest in your land and this is how you reciprocate? Shame on you! BTW, I'm done with you! |

Against my better judgment, I'll weigh back in. I'm the PP who is an immigration lawyer. I've been doing this stuff for more than a decade, and I have very little idea from your original post what your specific issue is or what you need to do. And it's not because I lack experience or am bad at my job. I'm sure whatever e-mail you sent to the recommended lawyers was more detailed, but even still it sounds like you're in a very peculiar situation and you're probably going to have a hard time finding someone who has a lot of experience with your specific situation. Immigration law is really, really complicated, and I hope you can appreciate that a lawyer -- even a very good one -- might need some time to look at your documents and research the issues before coming up with a detailed answer. Just because whoever you spoke to doesn't have a lot of experience with cases exactly like yours doesn't mean the lawyer is bad or can't help you. You should also know that there may not be anything any lawyer -- even the best one -- can do to get you the exact result you want. The law, as currently written, doesn't allow for a lot of leeway. That doesn't mean you should give up hope, but it does mean that you should probably have an in-person consultation with one or two of the recommendations here (my vote still goes to Maggio & Kattar -- they are widely (and, in my opinion, deservedly) regarded as absolutely the best in DC) and see where it goes from there.
Good luck. |
Actually, the least of the issues with that person was the lack of knowledge... we're definitely willing to work and learn together with someone who'll take our case. the biggest problem was the attitude, trying to make us feel like we don't know what we were talking about, diminishing the hard work our attorney has done already. Anyway, I really appreciate your response. Thanks a lot for your suggestion. |
