I love every card I get. Love to read them and see the pictures. I can't wait to see them every year.
I will admit to doing the photo cards the last few years. Just too busy. Though I tend to do the folded ones and write a note inside. Even though I like the family "newsletters" it is only for entertainment purposes. Too much vanity, too many pictures, too syrupy sweet. |

"I really can't stand the ones that are JUST a photo - flat - not folded - sometimes not even printed on! especially if it's ONLY the child - especially if it's ONLY a newborn. Once I received one of these and DH threw away the envelope and I had no idea who it was from."

| As long as there isn't a bunch of glitter that pours out of the envelope, I'm happy with the cards I get. |
| I love getting Christmas cards. But I do prefer if someone at least hand-writes our names and signs theirs, instead of just sending the printed card with no personalization whatsoever, like a mass-mailing advertisement. I even like getting annual newsletters! |
Have you heard of something called distraction? People chat about this stuff because it's funny and light. I venture to say most of us have real problems and this sort of chit chat helps us forget. Oh and No Christmas Card for you rude poster! |
Hehe...I say the cheesier the better. Don't just wear any ol PJs, how about matching raindeer PJs or snowman and everyone must wear the red Santa hat thing too. Say cheeeeeeeze. |
| Love them all...even the thought they they will be arriving in 4-6 weeks, delivered via this ba humbug thread makes me smile. Don't care if they are photos of kids, family, pet dog or fish, newletters, etc. It is all good in my book. |

What about the decorations?

| They rock!! I look forward to those too! |
Totally off on a side note here, but my family always did the newsletters, every single year. My parents even send them to us now that we're all adults and in our 40s. Unbeknownst to any of us, my dad had saved them all. Every single one. He collected them all and had them bound (just minimal, kinko's style binding) and gave them to us as a gift at Christmas. He called it "The History of the XYZ Family." It was so great to read them! These started from before I was born, with news of my brother's birth. It was wild looking back on "well, our daughter (me) is walking now. She took her first steps...." and I'm 43 now. So for people who are writing those newsletters, hang on to them. Your kids will LOVE to see them later. |
I'm the poster above and I could totally see where this would be cool (for family members). Good memories, I'm sure. |

Me too! I love seeing a pile of them sitting on the floor when I come home from work. My kids fight to open them. We have huge extended families and our list gets bigger every year. The enjoyment we get from the cards is well worth the $ we spend sending our own. We keep them in basket on the coffee table and tape the photos all along living room door frames. After Christmas I save all of them in a box packed with the decorations. Right after Thanksgiving we pull them out and look through them while we wait for this year's to start coming in. No Scrooges in our house!!! |
Ugh, glitter is the herpes of craft supplies. |
So funny and so true! |
