yogurt for weight loss

I find that the Fage 2% is less "tangy" than the 0% Fage. I eat it for breakfast on top of fresh fruit. I would imagine that the whole milk Fage would be really rich.

Fage is pretty tangy. Try Brown Cow or Pequea Farms -- both are less tangy, fairly sweet. I can eat them both plain, without honey. But I have to put a little honey on the Fage.

Trader Joe's Greek yogurt (pomegranate, blueberry, and now strawberry and mango available). Uses real sugar but relatively little of it, lots of protein--and delicious.

I switched to plain yogurt and been eating it for a year (lost 40 lbs.) in 4 months from changing eating habits and I walk a total of 10 miles a week. Anyway, I just had strawberry to yoplait for the first time in a year and I could not eat no more than 2 spoons. It was waaay too sweet, I couldn't enjoy it. My taste buds have certainly changed.

I bought whole Fage by accident. I could easily eat it rather than ice cream. It was heavenly!

I have been making quick smoothies every morning: 1/3-1/2 cup plain nonfat greek yogurt (chobani), handfull of blueberries, a few strawberries, one banana and about 1/2- 2/3 cup skim milk. blend with hand blender. Keeps me full for about 4-5 hours. For those on weight watchers, it is only 2-3 points depending on exactly howmuch milk and yogurt.

It also helps me eat healthier all day long. I have lost 17 pounds since march (also with excecise).

I make about 80 oz of smoothies every other day using Vitamix blender:

32 oz of stonyfeld organic low fat vanilla favor yogurt,
8 bananas,
lot of blueberries from costco,
lot of strawberries from costco
lot of mango from costco
lot of Asian persimons from costco
some spinach from costco
some local market honey

I take 20 oz in the morning along with some boiled egg and whole grain oat meal. I take another 20 oz in the afternoon at 4pm on my drive home before my 2 hours workout in the gym. I eat very healthy, don't smoke, drink or junk food. I am 6"2' at 176 lbs with 12% body fat when I had my physical check up two months ago.

Stay away from Greek or Danon yogurt. They all contain table sugar or corn syrup fructose. It is best if you make the smoothies yourself so that you know what it contains.

good luck..

Yoplait is ghetto. Go for the little Fage cups.

The kind of yogurt you are describing (not low fat, not low sugar) is not designed for weight loss. It is hardly low calorie. It is like eating desert.

I grew up eating plain yoghurt and can't stand all the sweet varieties. Try to train your taste buds. Maybe mix the kind you like with plain yoghurt.

Me too, with a bit of honey. It is my favourite snack.

I do greek yogurt every morning, and I add fruit to it - raspberries and blueberries. I don't really like fruit that much, so I don't eat enough of it, and this is one way to get it into my diet.

Low-fat or full.fage with a drizzle of agave , fruit and a few almonds....I find nonfat Greek yogurt too tangy. But I'm also not satisfied with yoplait...where's with the low-fat Greek and toppings, I'm not hungry for a good 3-4 hours.

Full-fat plain is much more palatable than reduced/non-fat, so you don’t need the additional flavoring. I eat mine with a little honey or maple syrup to make it a little sweet.
