Does anyone else find Dora the Explorer annoying?

Thought some consider Aunt Jemima offensive.

No worries, I am not bleeding from my ears, but I am stuck watching it.

I really cannot stand this show, for three reasons. One, she SCREAMS everything. Two, she says the same thing over and over and asks questions over and over, while screaming.

"CAN YOU FIND THE ROCK? THE ROCK? CAN YOU FIND IT? DID YOU? DID YOU FIND IT? THE ROCK! THE ROCK!"

It drives me up the wall.

And the last reason...the map song. Who wrote the map song?!?!?!

"I'm a map I'm a map I'm a map I'm a map I'm a map map map map map map map map map"

Dora's voice is enough to one ear cancer.
Sort of like screeching your fingernails down a blackboard.

repetition is how children learn language skills. Toddlers/young preschool kids are the target audience, not women 30+

Dora is a gem compared to the snoozefest that is Little Bill -- god that kid is annoying. Also in Arthur, D.W. seems to get away with *anything*.

My kids don't even know about Dora - we only allow Sprout or PBS to be on in. Nick and the Disney channels are blocked.

Besides, the more the kids know of other shows the more they'll want to watch tv. Ignorance is bliss.

What about Max and Ruby? Max is such an idiot. If I were Ruby I'd lock him in the closet.

You may find this distinction reassuring, but I doubt that it's very meaningful.

Sid- the science kid annoys the shit out of me. His voice kills me! And every time the show starts with him asking those questions on the microfone, I just feel like jumping from a bridge.

"so why do bananas get squishy...ishy...ishy..ishyyyy???"

As a scientist, I have to say that most Sid episodes are actually pretty good about teaching basic science skills and answering simple questions (although it depends on how old your child is as to how much he/she takes away from the show). I can live with that since my child actually gets something from it as opposed to Caillou and other pointless shows.
