10 day Water fast?

Anonymous
I don't think anyone can do ten days. Some people do that cleanse with lemonade and cayenne or whatever and I think if they succeed it's because they're getting some calories. I've been able to last three days. But this was years ago and I don't think it's healthy nor is it easy.

There's a guy on IG who has passed 105 days of a water fast. He's lost over 100 lbs (FastlifeJay247) and his goal is autophagy.

7 day and 21 day water fasts are not abnormal. I'm really surprised that so many on here believe this is dangerous. The body stores fat for this reason.

It’s easier for men to fast like that because they can’t reproduce. For women, hunger is a hormonal response during ovulation and prior to menstruation and we have caloric needs and hormones that men don’t have. extended fasting like that will kill us faster and cause hair loss, loss of fertility, and other problems that make it not worth it.

The easier weight loss for women is exercise. Reports show exercise benefits women more while dieting benefits men more.

I have done it for 24 hours and I’m the OP. 24 hours without food or water is easy. Eight hours of that is sleep so really 16 hours without food. That’s not that difficult if you’re ill, stressed, sedentary, overweight, or generally well fed and well nourished in the first place but that will not lead to any significant weight loss like an extended 96 hour or more fast. After 4 days is when the magic really begins.

Fat loss doesn’t really generate till a couple days into a fast: the initial drop is just water weight.

I wanted to know if anyone safely conducted a multiple day fast. For the record, the human body can go 3 without food but only 3 days without water.

I have done it for 48 hours (water only) and I did not lose a single pound of weight.

Maybe you aren’t overweight. If you’re overweight, the body will start eating/burning its own fat very quickly after not receiving food. Fat people lose weight very quickly.

For reference, I am normal BMI trying to lose 15 lbs. have been doing a restricted calorie diet (1450) and fasting 1 day a week, and I am losing 2 lbs per week.

For reference, based on the perfect women here, I was a 5'6" size 6/7 fatty.

11 pounds in five days?? Care to share exactly what you ate or drank each day? Were you working out as well? 11 pounds over a weekend is excessive amount of weight loss

I was so stressed even the thought of food made me nauseous. I only drank some water Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon/Tue. I literally could not eat one bite due to the stress. No, I did not exercise as I could barely think.

Just pointing out it is possible to lose almost 15 pounds in less than 10 days. Not saying it will stay off or that it's healthy.

You were almost certainly dehydrated. People don't realize how much water they get from food.

The other thing about rapid weight loss is you'll lose muscle mass too. It's not a good idea.

Just no, none of this is a good idea. Please do not try to lose 15 pounds in 2 weeks. Please do not suddenly engage in extreme fasting.

And even if it wasn't a health issue, you also would basically have to sacrifice being a functional human being for 2 weeks. Totally and completely miserable. Don't do it.
