Potomac parents are SO ANNOYING

Is OP sock-puppeting?

Nope, I'm not OP, but I just also have felt what OP is describing from Potomac parents. If you haven't, that's awesome, but I'm just responding to someone finally saying the thing that I have felt but never said...

It doesn't sound like they are actually bothering or interacting with you, so maybe you could just try not to eavesdrop and ignore them? I admit I'm guilty of wearing Potomac gear on occasion if any of my kids have a sports or robotics or debate competition that day, but I definitely don't mean to be offensive. Instead, I am happy that my kids are proud of their school and the effort they're putting in at interscholastic things, so I'd like to support them. It never crossed my mind that it would irritate someone while I'm out running errands.
I can't say it sounds like you will be missed by not applying. I'd also guess it's much more of an upbeat and supportive place than you would be happy at.

Uhhhhh gate keepy and social climbing will step on you to get myself a tiny bit further up is more of the sense I get from Potomac...

Does anyone else feel like this response just exemplifies OP's point? Cause it just oozes the Potomac vibe.

No, I found PP's answer mature and non-aggressive, whereas OP and assorted sock-puppets are beyond childish. Hi OP.

I have noticed the clothes thing and it is weird. I see some from other schools, but not so much as Potomac.

All the Big 3 parents have stickers on their cars. What is the difference between that and wearing school clothing?

Parents from all schools have bumper stickers on their cars... it isn't that they wear the school clothing it is the way they aggressively ensure you know their kid goes to Potomac School which brings in students from over 90 zip codes...

I'm going to assume this is a reverse psychology post that is seeking to drum up support for Potomac.

Otherwise OP sounds like a fool if she's trying to diss on a random school in such a juvenile manner.

So weird.

Can’t be worse than the Sidwell parents.

Potomac is a small town in Maryland, no ?

Why do you need to mention the name of your kids school so much and so loudly? I will be across the playground and hear them chattering Potomac this, Potomac that. This happens all the time. And I constantly see adults wearing Potomac hats and clothing.

We never hear little Langley parents or parents from the local publics doing this. I used to live in DC near AU and never heard people out living their lives talking about the Cathedral schools. I have many friends with kids at Holton, Landon, Prep, Gonzaga, Sidwell, STA, GDS, etc. and literally never seen an adult wearing any form of clothing for one of those schools.

So long way of asking .... what is wrong with these parents? Do they have nothing better going on in their lives? It has certainly turned me off from ever applying my kids.

I would have to agree with this whole post. These parents are something else!

Yes, it is, but OP is referring to the school which is located in McLean, VA.

I don’t understand why the Potomac school is in McLean, and the McLean school is in Potomac.

Because the schools are named after the Potomac river and George McLean, respectively, not the towns 🤣 but it is funny...
