Never heard of admits to Stanford. Do kids from the east coast just don't apply or no one ever gets in?

Stanford has always had a bit of a west coast bias. My HS out west regularly sent several a year. I think the only Stanford admits I know are legacies or people from out west.

My kid's public school sends 1-2 to Stanford each year. There are 2 unhooked ones I knew in person. One in STS, and the other had paper published, and research was reported in news.
