GDS makes me sick. Believe victims! |
How does the school investigate in good faith? The 11 year old said the kids were wearing masks. It was reported to the school and then the police months after it happened. Maybe the 11 year old thought he knew who the boys were but I doubt that there was any evidence and it is likely that it turned into a he said/ he said. I am not sure if the victims family thinks there is evidence that the Police have rejected but I doubt that the school is not cooperating with the police. This publicity is enough, never mind someone being able to point to not cooperating. |
Rarely, it has happened that children confabulate, or that their parents conclude the worst from things their children say. It happened in our area in a well-publicized case at a Jewish preschool a few years ago. The accused, after being vilified and attacked in his own community, was later cleared of all criminal charges, but his life was destroyed anyway: he was financially ruined and his ex-wife turned his kids against him. So while we always want to believe the children and their parents, please keep this in mind. |
| I dunno, this sounds pretty implausible. Two preteens planned a masked attack on someone in a bathroom and none of the other kids knew about it? |
| Were the alleged perpetrators in middle or high school? |
Was it during the school day? But why would a parent put their child through the publicity about this unless they were 100% certain it happened? |
Middle school at the time. |
Unsure but parents who know the victim say it was during the school day |
| Horrible. Needs to be taken seriously. |
| Props to the student newspaper! |
| Sounds made up to me. Maybe if was one kid, but as strict and disciplined things are at GDS, you won’t find two kids that would do that. I call BS. |
Good point. |
I agree the allegations might not be true, but the reasons you stated are nonsense. First, GDS is not a strict and disciplined environment, and second, even if it was, strict and disciplined environments are just the sort of places that breed the potential for abuse. So wrong on all fronts, PP. |
| and the alleged victims are now in my kids class. this sucks for all involved. how do the recover from this. they are about to admit a new class and colleges are supposed to wonder which kids did this when they apply? this is not good. |
