We did. I did not know this at all and GDS was one of our top choices. Now I have doubts that kids are safe there. Even for summer camps, I will never choose GDS.

Did anyone else find the admissions team at GDS extremely unresponsive? They were perfectly polite in person but if I had a question or a follow up they didn’t respond. As one simple example, they suggested at the interview that we attend a school event and said they would send the details. They didn’t send us anything; we followed up with them and asked for the details and also never heard back.

I kind of dismissed it at the time but combined with some of the stuff I’m reading here, it is feeling very unfriendly to parents and I worry that’s a more pervasive issue.

A pervasive issue that combines unresponsiveness with a complex conspiracy to perpetrate and obfuscate child sexual abuse?

I’d say it’s more likely that they were overwhelmed during the admissions process but not being responsive is not a good look.

The hypocrisy when they host an annual consent summit for OTHER schools is startling. Perhaps those recs should be rolled out to their own students and they should fix their own culture?

Exactly. Our HOS is a sick puppy.

All these schools have detailed admissions information, e.g. how to apply, events, etc..) on their websites. Also, I wouldn't infer that the admissions team responsiveness is directly correlated with how actual sudent parents are treated. It's apples to oranges.

As a parent of a kid who went through something significant at a top area private, I was gobsmacked by the reaction. Closed ears, close ranks, no show even of concern. Understand the school defenders can’t believe that’s how a school they may love and have good experiences with would respond like this I. wouldn’t have believed it until it happened to our family.

This is exactly why this is so important. Russell Shaw needs to be let go for this. This is the only stuff we know of in the media. We don't know about secret agreements with an NDA or stuff that's not public.

Sadly nothing will happen - he will exit to his lucrative thinktank job in June and be hailed at a series of send-off parties in May and June. Nothing will happen.

Shaw’s tenure has included moments when GDS was in the national spotlight, namely the confirmation hearing for Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. “A national brouhaha doesn’t change who we are. Our mission is our mission; our values are our values,” Shaw said. “The microscope moves on, and we go back to making sure kids feel belonging and joy.”--- It's amazing to see who Shaw is in public vs when he thinks nobody's watching..

Oh geez, stop it, people.

Every time this thread disappears to page two, someone feels the need (obviously intentionally) to bump it back up. It’s either one kid or one parent that is obsessed.
