It's one single game, without the main US squad players It can't be used as a measurement of the totality of the US Women's program sheesh |
Not predicting gloom. Last world cup was a disaster. This is the first real roster turn over in a very long time. It will not be easy like the old days against 2 other good countries. There are at least 12 now. It's not the U.S. and everybody else. |
| I love the fact that there are new faces on the team. Gone at the days when some girl made the u19 team and stayed on it all the way thru. They now have to earn their spots not ride old coat tails! |
| To prove your point, Gotham lost to a Brazilian team today. |
It wasn't going to be the US and everybody else forever. The US couldn't do anything to prevent it because the women's game exploded in popularity (partly from the US success). Just like the world caught up to the US in basketball as the sport's popularity grew. But the US is still the betting favorite to win the next women's World Cup. USA +280 Spain +350 England +400 Everyone else +1000 and up |

Hmm...I really like what Emma Hayes has brought and the injection of money that Michelle Kang ($55 Million) has injected into the program. The net that is being cast for US players is far wider than it has been in the past. You are seeing many more players on the senior team than in past years. The U23 squad and the senior team have had joint camps and are running on the same system. More players are also being cycled through camps at the younger ages as well - while you will see repeats at these camps, there are overall more players being exposed to that environment. I'm looking at the U17 camps specifically due to personal experience. The very deep pockets comment for women's soccer is interesting. While this isn't their national system, it seems that all is not good in Spain with their Barca women's squad. From Google: FC Barcelona Femení, despite being a global leader in revenue generation, operates under strict budget constraints for 2025-26, with only €11m for salaries compared to €319m for the men's team. The women's side is profitable but financially tethered to the men's debt-ridden structure, leading to reduced spending, player contract terminations, and a difficult 2025 transfer market. Yeah, other countries are developing and pushing the US. I don't think that's a bad thing though overall. |
You do know that the top college teams could beat lots of professional teams, right? There are players that don’t even start in college that signed professional contracts in leagues and other countries. The last major tournament was the Olympics. USA won that too. If Trinity Rodman isn’t developing then whose fault is that? US Soccer? I think that Trinity and Trinity‘s club are responsible for Trinity‘s development.. |
It’s ridiculous to say she isn’t developing. She is one of the top players in the league and keeps winning wherever she goes (Spirit and USWNT). She has been sidelined quite a bit by injuries. The idiots here think development just means fancy soccer moves. But that’s not her strength. She leans into what she is good at, as she should, and does what she can to help her team win. She brings an energy and leadership that is noticeable when she is on the field. Emma Hayes, who knows more about women’s soccer than any of you, clearly thinks she is one of the best players. I’m sorry it doesn’t fit your keyboard warrior definition of development. |
She is a very good player and great at everything you just described. She has improved since the world cup where she should have been benched along with Rapinoe, but let's be honest, she could be the best player in the world if she had great skill. Her skills are good. Her social media and marketing skills are great. That's just my solo opinion. |
For whatever reason, he has issues with Trinity Rodman Sounds more personal than soccer related |
Fantastic player, world class. I have a personal preference for Mallory and Sophia’s technical skill and movement on and off the ball. Trinity is certainly the straw that stirs the drink though. They are a very effective group who should have been playing more minutes together in prior cycles to the Paris Olympics. |
| Yeah, the European teams will dominate going forward. They really know how to play futbol, so it’s just a matter of time. The same is true for teams like Brazil and Colombia. |
You might be waiting for a while. There are more resources than before all over the world for women's soccer, but most still are nowhere close to what is available in the US. We still have a huge population that sends a lot of the "best" athletes to soccer. |
Colombia? I wouldn’t hold my breath. Brazil is already a power. The best female player ever is Brazilian. |
