| This is going to be one of the slowest meets Metros has seen. Elite swimming has faded in the D and M but not the V of the DMV. |
| The recruiting rankings do not bear that out unless you consider VA Beach, Richmond and Charlottesville part of the DMV. But my guess is you are doing a weird trolling bit. |
My child swims in D/M and I agree with this for the most part |
The whole area is on a massive downswing into mediocrity. |
Based on what? Can you give specific trends and data to support that claim? |
| A decade ago eight swimmers represented the DMV on the Jr. Nat Team. Now there are two. The spread of six spots can appear to be a slip from “elite.” |
There is nothing wrong with an inclusive prelims. |
This is why the Metros had lost its luster. Is there something wrong with standards? |

Fastest relays win |
Definitely. Need to be top 3 or better in all relays. Who exactly is eligible for this meet? Pg public? Why don't they attend? No powers obv but surely a few qualifying kids. Or VA? Not invited? Not interested? |
VA publics, not interested. (It would interfere with the Districts/Regionals/States schedule.) VA privates, mostly not invited. Isn't the Potomac School in there? |
Metros used to be the meet that ended the high school season for Maryland publics (MoCo, PG, FredCo) along with a few DC schools that offered swimming (such as Wilson) and the privates in the DC area (including NOVA privates). Eventually, some of the non-MoCo Publics started their own "state" meet that was not recognized by the MPSSAA, mostly because they couldn't compete with the MoCo and Private schools at Metros. In 2011, the MPSSAA adopted swim and dive officially as a state sponsored sport, which essentially forced MoCo publics into the region and state meets. This shifted the February meet calendar; Metros moved earlier in the calendar to accommodate the region and state meets. MoCo dropped its County Championship meet. It also impacted involvement from some of the VA Privates. There was a time that schools like Eleanor Roosevelt from PG County and Paul VI from VA were very competitive at Metros. There was a long stretch where the private schools dominated Metros, and then MoCo Publics have had a nice run recently. |
| Any assessment on the dopes of MOCO actually cleaning the parking lot and the parking situation up there? |
