Private & Independent Schools
Sure. Go ahead and pretend that you are still in high school and that this affects you on a personal level. You're really doing your kids a big favor when you can't separate yourself. |
What an odd hang up, PP. |
DP. Not odd at all. It's pervasive and a sign that too many mamas are way too invested in their kids' lives and/or are trying to relive their own glory days. |
| I have many disagreements with how ICE is operating but I am aware this is a very complicated topic with plenty of blame on "both sides" as well as legalese, so I do not approve of knee jerk performative reactions that do not acknowledge the nuances of the situation. I approve of schools refraining from making public statements. Talking about it within individual classes in a respectful, listening to all sides, manner is totally fine. |
There are NOT mighty fine people on both sides. It's not complicated. As a LEO family. ICE is breaking the law, not following procedures, not following the constitution and many of them are criminals. This can't be discussed because there are no "two sides" there is the constitution and what it says and what is being done is against the law and the constitution. |

Until a court orders ICE to leave Minnesota, what ICE is doing in general is not breaking the law or unconstitutional. Most people reaching for "the constitution!" have no real idea what is actually in the constitution. Given that despite intense opposition from Minnesota government officials, ICE is still in Minnesota tells you it is actually not breaking the law or unconstitutional. We can certainly debate the behaviors of certain ICE agents, or even protesters, but ICE is not operating illegally until a court officially says so. Look, it was in defiance of the laws that Biden's administration waved in 10+ million illegal migrants and let them disappear for all practical purposes. Biden's people also blocked Texas and Arizona from wanting to be more proactive in stopping the migrants from coming across the border, and despite the unhappiness these states complied, because constitutionally they had to defer to the US federal government. That's why this situation is filled with complex nuances and no one's hands are "clean" by any stretch of the imagination. |
Are you the same parent from “Michigan” on the school cancellation thread? Same energy! Please, for the love of this board go shovel a sidewalk. |
It's also not as black and white as you're making it out to be. Of course there are two sides. There are those of us who respect the laws of the US, including immigration, and too many people who do not. |
You mean line the 4th Amendment? Or the laws against shooting an unarmed citizen in the head? Twice? |
Nevermind the second amendment |
OUR school, it's a family thing. We are part of it. |
It is against the law to profile, it’s against the law to break into homes without a warrant. It’s against the law to stop a car without probable cause. Trump did an unbelievably terrible job with immigration his first time around and the only reason he’s doing what he’s doing now is because he’s pissed that Obama did a better job. This has nothing to do with Biden. I have no problem with him lawfully deporting every single solitary brown skinned person. Just don’t break the law. Scalia is rolling in his grave right now. Minnesota has 130,000 undocumented people. Texas has 2 million, Florida has almost 2,000,000. Yep, they’re not deporting people in those states the way they are in Minnesota. Interesting. Everything Trump does is a retaliation for something else. This has nothing to do with immigration.. Do you know how many people went to jail in Trump’s first administration? What they’re doing is illegal unfortunately the wheels of justice move slowly, but all these ice agents are going to end up in jail and they’re gonna lose their houses. They’re gonna lose their jobs. They’re gonna lose everything they have. Their families are gonna be destroyed. You don’t understand law-enforcement, and if you talk to somebody who understands law-enforcement, they would explain to you how illegal all of this is. |
Yes it is black and white. Obama deported a shit ton of people. He just did it legally. |
It’s really not but whatever you want to tell yourself |
