Who else still has Xmas decorations up?

It was SOOO good to take down Christmas. It had been up since mid-November, so DC could decorate while home for Thanksgiving. Now, Christmas is over - yay!

At least stop turning the outside lights on!

Can you explain why it bothers you? I keep my outside lights on because I love the bright colors and cheeriness amid the gloom of winter. I feel happy when I see other people's lights. What is wrong/upsetting about the lights?

Christmas is over so it's looks like the house us uncared for (to me,)..like you left your pumpkin out in December, garbage cans out all week or your now dead plants in the planters.

I always think I’ll just leave it up well i to January for the glow but honestly even my kids were sick of looking at it by last weekend and requested it come down. Once I sucked it up and put in the 3 hours to get it all packed away I have to stay the house did feel much better without it.

I put up 7 trees, which are stored fully decorated. But last year, we left the 2 largest trees up all year. Yes, it made decorating the house last November a lot easier not having to carry the large trees out, but they did get dusty sitting out for 14 months.

Not noticeable to the eye, but when we had to replace a string of lights, it kicked up some dust. So now we are going to completely undecorate them and take the big trees out on the deck and power blow them to get all the dust off.

So I won't be leaving trees up all year in the future. I never noticed dust from having trees up for 2 months. Maybe spring, summer and fall are just more dusty.

Where in your were these trees up all year? So odd. And of course the are dusty. They are dust magnets. 2 months is a lot shorter than 12.

I don’t care what anyone does inside their home, but I saw more than a few outside lights on last night. Why?

We have a large stone fireplace that goes up 20 feet. On either side of it is empty space that isn't in any walkway. We liked the way the soft light looked in the evenings and now those corners are going to be dark. Our family room is pretty big, so it's not like they were taking up needed space.

I was just giving a heads up to the several people who posed the idea of leaving their tree up all year.

Honestly the better question is why you care if people still have their outdoor lights on.

We only decorated the week before Christmas, so it’s not been a month. Everything is down except the wreath on the front door which is a fresh one so I am keeping it up until it dries out which it looks like it’s starting to do, so it will go out in this week’s trash.

My neighbors do, and it’s annoying. They should have done it before it snowed.

I don’t really care and it doesn’t affect me, but I do wonder why.

I don't have them but I love it that my neighbors still do. The ones that are still up are just white lights, not an elaborate Christmas display. They make walking home from the Metro so much nicer.

Ours will be up at least till February. We have a fake tree though, so I’m not worried about pine needles dropping everywhere.
