Spanberger already doing the Lords work at UVA LOL

I 100% support this and think Trump and his kind are spawn of the Devil and what they were trying to do was awful.

That being said, becoming a bit less DEI focused and more welcoming to traditional Republican views (not MAGA views, but old school moderate conservative views) is not a horrible idea and might win her a bit more support. And I say this as a lifelong Democrat.

Old school moderate conservative views don’t exist anymore.

I don’t like the extremes in either party and think this is a good message for all.

Hmm. I don't think CIA officer Spanberger does "woke", whatever it means to you.

She's simply a not-crazy, centrist sort of human being. Dem label, because that's the only not-crazy party with a centrist option. The other party is solid core fascist now.

It's funny how outraged many of you were when Youngkin appointed HIS own board members. Now that Spanberger is doing the same thing, you're cheering it on. As long as you realize it is the governor's prerogative to appoint members to the boards of state colleges and it's not an outrage when a Republican does exactly what a Democrat does (and vice-versa). This seems to need to be explained to you every four years. Same with presidential appointees.

I don't think governors have historically completely cleaned house and made a big thing of it like Youngkin did - it is not apples and apples. It was typical performative childish "stick it to the libs" crap that MAGA specializes in. So she is just restoring things to the way they were.

Dems historically bring a butter knife to a gun fight. Glad they are now growing a pair (and it takes a woman to do so).

And if you don't think Trump's appointees this term were completely vindictive then you are completely brainwashed. Most of his people during his first term were at least somewhat intelligent and qualified. These are just pathetic loser backside kissers who is appointed to get a rise out of the other side. This is a 250 year old country, not a game. But he doesn't care. Because he thinks he is "winning." I wish he would just go away. Move to Greenland.

She’s cleared house at UVA

Top Youngkin appointees resign

Spanberger should be able to easily replace them given Dem trifecta

The former CIA officer asserting her control.

Some good news on a Friday night.

Didn’t happen at all. She “asked” some BOV members to resign. They aren’t going anywhere. She did it to make fake news, which apparently you fell for. Everything is very calm and quiet at UVA, where I am tonight. Everyone is glad Ryan is gone and likes the new Prez. There is no news here.

I’m a UVA alum. All the alums I know were outraged about what Youngkin pulled with Jim Ryan.

This is false and I doubt you're a part of the school community. First of all, this is Rush week, so it's definitely not quiet. I was at an event this week with faculty, staff, students and alumni. The new president received a tepid response when he was introduced. I'm sure he's a nice guy and well known by the community (former Batten Dean), but accepting the job under the current climate, just before the new Governor took office isn't a good look. What was the rush? There are already emails by student and faculty groups questioning this decision so I wonder how much support he'll receive. Lastly, Jim Ryan was very popular with students.

Liar. Sheridan, Wilkinson and Manning resigned, and very few people are glad Ryan is gone.

It is a horrible idea. Nothing wrong with DEI. And traditional conservative views have always had their place in the academy.

She hasn’t appointed anyone yet. We’re cheering the expulsion of some really bad people.

Jim Ryan was extraordinarily popular. People were very upset about him being pushed out.

Does anyone have a gift link to that New York Times article with the FOIA text exchanges? It is behind a paywall and I am a student. Thank ya’ll.
