I'm not in the area so can't give specifics, sorry. But I have a GEM. The cosmetic surgeon was excellent but when I couldn't get in with her because she's doing serious cleft palates and breast reductions, she sent me to the medspa that the doctors "oversee".
The NP there does all injections all day, they do on themselves and each other. She has the best touch. She got me onto a different brand (less expensive) with actually fewer units so I'm saving money. But I also try new things with her like lip injection- she's so good. So look for a medspa that is associated with excellent surgeons- but you get the nurses who that's all they do.... |
+1. I have done laser treatments with her too and have been very happy. She is really knowledgeable and super nice! |
| I always recommend Dr. Anne Rothman in Gaithersburg...a light touch, I get botox and microneedling there, the results are really very good and natural. |
| Going to an “injector” is insane to me. Just pay an actual trained doctor who understands anatomy. If you have to sharpen the pencil that much, should you be spending money on this? |
I used to to think this but I'm friends with several surgeons and they all say forget the MDs for botox and filler, go to the PAs who are doing it all day. The actual doctors are by and large not doing continuing education or much volume in this space at all so it's kind of like thinking you'll get the best ear piercing from your GP. Can they do it? Yeah. Is it the gold standard? Not really. |
Injectors include doctors. If you have a specific doctor who is very skilled with injections please share! |
I have also been to Sara and had a great experience! I had lipo done at their office and found it difficult to get onto Dr Someneks schedule for injectables. She does a great job and was trained by him so I feel comfortable going to her as an NP. |
I heard a story recently about a patient in the ER demanding that the doctor insert their IV. Lol. Not a great idea. Could they do it? Yeah. Eventually after trying a few times. Do you want them to? Heck no, you want the nurse or phlebotomist to do it -- you want the person who does it all day. That said, this isn't necessarily the same exact thing. Plenty of med spas out there hiring NPs who don't know what they are doing. |
I went to her based on your rec on another thread here! She did Botox for me and it was very natural. Thank you for sharing! |
Oh you're welcome! I'm so glad it went well, she's excellent and a really lovely person. I too got the rec to see her from dcum ( three years ago). |
Would you recommend her for Sculptra? I saw her mentioned in a previous thread and am thinking about getting Sculptra after weight loss! |
A chunk of my friend group goes to the same dermatologist in McLean. They all start to look the same. It’s a pretty overdone look, but they all rave about this Dr |
Would you please share the name of the doctor? |
I had Sculptra with her and had great results. But it did take 4 vials and 6 months to see the results! |

i go to Kimberly (Kim) at Pureskin Aesthetics in Tysons. I have only done Botox but am very happy with her and the results.
