Right, but I was just saying that a name has been selected.

It's actually really funny that they picked the generic-descriptor name as the final recommendation. It's like when my kids wanted to name our dog, Puppy.

However, given the slate of other options they narrowed it down to, I feel like we dodged a bullet.

Best of a bad lot. But they didn't "narrow it down," they ignored community input when they came up with the list the selected Western from.

True. It was the only acceptable name from that list, but they should have included "Oak Hill," "Sully," or, even, "Horsepen Run."

I did have fun thinking of "Frying Pan" though. I still like the idea of a pioneer chasing her husband with a skillet as a mascot.

Hopefully, the School Board does not change it to a person or some type of aspirational name. But, they might.

Seems like the airport name came up for change a few years ago. Forget why they were against him, but i remember it being discussed. Thankfully, they did not change it.

Late idea that will go nowhere, but they could name this school Burlingame HS, after Charles Burlingame, the pilot who commanded AA 77, the flight hijacked by terrorists on 9/11 and crashed into the Pentagon. He was a local Oak Hill resident.

It would have honored someone who gave their life in duty, a local resident, and someone with an air/space background. Maybe Abrar Omeish would have objected to honoring any American killed on 9/11, but all the more reason.

Oh well. Bland old Western HS it shall be.

And Dr. Reid ultimately recommended naming it…

Western High School.

So there was all this drama when it was going to be named that anyway?

This whole thing seems like a waste.

She amended her recommendation to include both "Western" and "Skyview."

What happened to Discovery??

Well, I guess I know now why they left Oak Hill out of the choices.

Looks like they are skipping people who live in 20171 for kids who are farther away.

Not smart.

Why do they keep making changes to “final” recommendations?

So Westview or Skytern?

Did they release new maps?

If they name it Skyview, I'll be happy that our PTO pushed hard to remain at Oakton, LOL!
