Naming of New High School.

Anonymous
I looked on BoardDocs at the final recommendation for naming the new high school, and found that Skyview and Western were the most popular names.

And Dr. Reid ultimately recommended naming it…

Western High School.

So there was all this drama when it was going to be named that anyway?

This whole thing seems like a waste.

Western was the more popular choice of parents and staff. I think that’s why it won. Agree the whole thing is stupid.

Just take your win and save your energy to fight over the Western boundaries. Sheesh.

Both of those names are really lame. Better than justice though which sounds like a juvenile detention center.

Said the MAGA tool who thinks Liberty High, Freedom High, and Independence High are great names, but can't stand Justice High, maybe because it reminds them of what many of us hope Donald Trump and his felonious cronies will one day face.

Hi- I also think Liberty and Freedom High are awful.

Oh you know I’m doing that too.

I am OP and I wanted to bring this up because in a way, I find it hysterical.

In other forums, I’ve thought of how to best maximize the new high school.

I’ve thought about taking 2,162 students (1005 Students from Westfield in Options A and B; 370 students from South Lakes in Option B, 351 Students from Chantilly as in Option A; and 436 students from Oakton as in options A and C).

But I have also thought about adding the 38 students from Fox Mill Woods (the neighborhood behind Crossfield), it I just don’t want to in my opinion, I really don’t think they want to move out of South lakes anyway.

Liberty, Independence, and Freedom were not considered as a naming option for the new high school, but I’m glad you delusionallly think that PP.

From BoardDocs:

https://go.boarddocs.com/vsba/fairfax/Board.nsf/files/DQ5PZM66A3DC/$file/Superintendent%20Recommendation%20for%20Naming%20New%20High%20School.pdf

The recommendation is at the bottom of the slideshow in a big blue box, with survey data on slides 8 and 9.

This thread is about the school name, not the Western boundaries.
