| Good suggestions on here. I volunteered at Inova (they have a robust and well organized volunteer program) and was told that it led to jobs for many people. |
Could you get a second part time job at Costco? Then tell them you're interested in full time. Then keep going from there. |
| Thanks for all the volunteering and back to school suggestions. Those aren't really options for me as I'm a single parent so I need money not work for free or take on more debt going back to school. I'll look into Costco. |
I've applied for project management in multiple fields. Either rejected or ghosted after the interview. |
| Have you practiced your interview technique or received coaching? Your local city or state workforce commission/employment council would have free resources, also check your library or similar organizations. |
Yes, I did that through my county as a reemployment activity. |
| Office manager at a privately owned medical/dental practice? |
How hard is it to get a job at Costco? Aren't they one of the top retail employers? |
Np here....and do you think you are helping OP? You re an a$$ |
| Try taking 5-6 years off your resume. Remove education dates. Aim for no more than 15 years of experience. |
|
Is your priority to stay in healthcare? Or is it to stay in Project Management in any field?
Lots of growth at tech companies in the area.... perhaps an option! |
| Can you hang your shingle as a consultant and use your contacts to get in front of people. Do your job for less than a full time employee to make it worth their while to take a risk on you. This can lead to a full-time job if you hit it out of the park. |
Infection control job? Openings are rare and defer to people with specific experience, but do hire MPHs. You would want a large hospital like Inova where you can be on a team to learn the role. Or healthcare vendors that develop IFU manuals. Find contacts at hospitals or major healthcare orgs who might be willing to do some sort of informational interviews and get you in the door to meet more folks. Healthcare folks are helping by nature. Nursing leaders, quality/regulatory managers etc. |
DP to add, for infection prevention/control, if you already have an MPH, just study for and take the CIC exam (courses offered through APIC) and it would give you a leg up plus you could meet people in healthcare through the class. |
| I also know MPHs who worked for public health depts, just doing some consulting or even environmental rounds/surveys, young folks hired straight out of MPH school. Reach out and make contacts. It is on to backtrack a little if you were in a more senior role, just to get foot in the door. |
