STOP COMING IN SICK

OP and we DO allow telework which is what kills me.

Well I don't have any telework and it's nonstop coughing over here. I'm seriously worried sitting at my desk. We were just sick for 2 weeks and I don't want to get sick again.

Just wear a mask.

I’m a teacher and I have noticeably sick students in every class period.

If you have kids, they will likely be sitting near classmates with flushed faces, coughs, and no energy.

If you have kids, the sickness is going to come from your kids if it doesn’t come from your office.

Just wait until you get on an airplane. So much coughing everywhere. Not just occasional, innocent coughs. Full blown, nasty sounding, constant coughing. You just have to mask if this sort of thing bothers you.

a cold or covid, no way to tell at this point.

many people get pneumonia from every other cold, so it can be serious.

but until we see unlimited telework and/or sick leave, people will come to the office to not burn it except when they really can't work.

Last cold I had morphed into a massive sinus infection that required antibiotics and kncked me down for 5 days.

I’m pretty cautious about staying home but colds are so tough because sometimes they just linger for weeks.

If someone obviously sick comes in to work I send my manager a note that says "Due to my own specific health concerns, I will be going home in order to avoid exposure what Bill has. I will return to the office when either Bill is well or he stays home."

I guess this is the question. Colds are only contagious for a couple days before and the first few days for active symptoms. You may have a cough/congestion that lingers for a couple weeks but you're not contagious that entire time.

If I say "I have a cold" I mean I am actively contagious, and will be staying home from work.

Didn't we learn during covid that masking doesn't protect the wearer? The sick person should be masking.

Maybe they aren't contagious? I've been coughing for weeks. I had an actual cold with a bad cough, which has resolved, but I have environmental allergies and the cold irritates my throat and so I am still coughing on and off.

Your husband has no PTO and doesn’t get paid if he doesn’t work but you think his coworkers shouldn’t come to work sick and just not get paid?

wear a kn95 or n95.

I've been consistently masking indoors in public since spring 2020 and I have not gotten sick at all since Jan 2020.

and yes, going into work when you are sick is asinine. especially if you are allowed to telework.

I agree that the sick person should mask as well. But wearing a mask does provide a lot of protection to the wearer as well. I have been masking indoors since the pandemic - a good kn95, not some flimsy mask - and I have not gotten sick. It helps a lot. But yes, the sick person should

For a fleeting moment in the pandemic there was a saying going around that you should wear a mask to protect the other people and they should wear a mask to protect you. It was an attempt to get people to see masking as the selfless, right thing to do. It failed, obviously, since as we learned during the pandemic many people dont give a damn about other people. But while it's true having the sick person wear a mask helps protect the person around them, wearing a mask helps protect you too. It's a two way street.

The airplane people aren't even bothering to cover their mouths when they cough. Good luck getting them to wear a mask.

If they are not properly able to juggle their time off and sick time they should be let go

Coworker should just wear a mask. It’s the easy and courteous thing to do.
